Gandhi, Dr. King, Mother Teresa, Jesus, Buddha, all of the great teachers and leaders of nonviolence had an unshakable faith in Divine Intelligence. Those who have faith have access to the one great power. Those who have fear have a negative faith – the faith in something other than The Divine. In my faith I can feel that Divine WIsdom is omnipresent, omniactive love intelligence and therefore God is all there is. If Spirit is all there is then fear must be a faith in illusion. Illusion has no substance, no power.
Ernest Holmes has taught me, “To correct all the evils of the world, would be but to have the positive faith, faith rightly placed, a faith that lays hold of the integrity of the Universe, the beneficence of God and the Unity of all life. Nevertheless, we cannot have faith in that which we do not in some measure understand.” It wasn’t until I set out to prove spiritual principles in my life that I found my deep faith. I uncovered it through working with spiritual principles as a scientist would. This is why we call it “spiritual practice.”
My faith is that within me which knows who I am and what is mine to do. Not because someone told me, but because I found it for myself. Through my studies and my spiritual practice, I’ve come to know that I truly am one with the infinite, supported and surrounded by love. I can never leave this place of security except within my own mind. My faith is that within me which knows the fundamental truth of life: I am a spiritual being; all is spiritual substance and always will be. With faith all things are possible.
Because we are all “born of the spirit,” there is that within each of us that has an unshakable faith. To find it, I must be the one who has “eyes to see and ears to hear.” Today my practice of nonviolence is a faith walk. I find evidence of the unseen Intelligence because I seek evidence of it and appreciating it in all that I experience today.
I place my faith in God and only God.
