{"id":2651,"date":"2020-03-19T06:53:44","date_gmt":"2020-03-19T06:53:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/powerofloveministry.net\/news\/?p=2651"},"modified":"2020-04-06T15:05:52","modified_gmt":"2020-04-06T15:05:52","slug":"support-group-highlight-grief-support-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/powerofloveministry.net\/news\/blog\/2020\/03\/support-group-highlight-grief-support-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Support Group Highlight: Grief Support Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Losses can be experienced in many forms, among them are loss of a job, loss of health, loss of security, death of a loved one, and ultimately the fear of facing our own mortality.<\/p>\n<p>Our intention for this group is to offer a safe and sacred space for those seeking support and compassion for losses in their life, which we recognize as grief. All are welcomed and invited to be authentic, transparent, and vulnerable about their journey with grief. The facilitators are here to hold space with open hearts so that each person can feel their grief without judgement and when ready, be supported to transform their grief.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Grief Support Group<\/strong> held its first meeting on December 2, 2019. We meet the <strong>first Monday of every month<\/strong> (<em>see meeting details below<\/em>). Although the discussions tend to be organic and flow from the stories of our grief, we also explore some pertinent topics such as defining grief, <em>ACIM<\/em> references on death, and tools to help you heal and clear grief. Each of the four facilitators has a unique experience with grief, and all are committed to supporting others in their individual grief journeys while they continue to allow themselves to be healed.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Meet the Facilitators:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Carine Dorce:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2653 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/powerofloveministry.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/CarineDorce.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/powerofloveministry.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/CarineDorce.png 150w, https:\/\/powerofloveministry.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/CarineDorce-75x75.png 75w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><br \/>\nIn 2013, Carine\u2019s 35-year-old firstborn died of a drug overdose. \u201cI know the pain of losing Steven was my motivation for change. And, I also realize now that it\u2019s up to me to continue my journey, not just for him but for myself and for others as he would encourage me to do!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Connie Batsell:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2654 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/powerofloveministry.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Connie-Batsell.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/powerofloveministry.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Connie-Batsell.png 150w, https:\/\/powerofloveministry.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Connie-Batsell-75x75.png 75w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In November of 2018, Connie\u2019s family experienced a tragic loss when her oldest son was suddenly and tragically killed. His death shattered her heart and brought her to her knees. Connie does not deny her own feelings of grief. I was spent. The facts are that I fell in love with a man who was dying of pancreatic cancer. Somehow, by this proximity of love to death, a friction was created in me as these opposing forces flowed together in those final months. I now wish to \u2018accept no compromise in which death plays a role,\u2019 and to share the benefits with everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s <strong>no registration required<\/strong>.
