Again and again I’m impressed by how Life shows us that there truly is one mind, and that we’re all connected.  Here’s an example from yesterday.

My dog, Bodhi, and my cat, Sattva are my mighty companions. Both of them like to go outside to do their business and to explore.  Bodhi goes out on a lead when I’m not with her so she’s tethered, and Sattva gets to roam.

As I’ve shared before, I get nervous sometimes when Sattva is out there in the freezing cold for hours.  He’s got a fur coat, but he’s barefoot.  So, I feel uncomfortable, but he loves it.

As you can see in the above photo, I have a glass door from the deck to my kitchen/den.  I let them in and out all day long.  If Bodhi would like to go out, she rings a bell that I taught her to use.  If she’d like to come in, she gives a bark of a particular tone and pitch that I recognize as the signal to let her in.

Sattva can make a sound to have me let him out.  He sits by the door and makes a kind of yearning meow that I know means he’d like to go out.  He has ways to get my attention to let him in, he doesn’t usually meow because it’s not loud enough for me to hear if I’m in another part of the house.  So, when I feel like he’s been out there long enough (he stays out there MUCH longer than Bodhi does), I call him to come home, but if he’s not ready he ignores me.

Last week I had the thought:  “If Bodhi sees Sattva on the deck, ready to come in, I wish she’d let me know.”  You see, Bodhi is often laying around on the floor in front of the door or on the sofa with a clear view.

Then yesterday morning, I had the same thought again.  Sattva had been outside for a couple of hours, it was snowing and blowing and while it was in the upper 20’s for temperature, I would have preferred he came home.  I had gone to the door a couple of times and called him, but he didn’t come.

I was in a room at the front of the house after yoga, when I heard Bodhi ring the bell to go out.  There was something about it that felt odd to me.  When I went to where she was to let her out, there was Sattva waiting by the door to come in.

It worked!  Bodhi had rung the bell to let me know Sattva wanted to come in.

This was a first.

It was also the thought I had last week, and the thought I’d had just about an hour before it happened.

I was impressed!

As I’ve said before, when I’d like Sattva to come in, sometimes I mentally send him a picture of us snuggling and he shows up pretty quickly.  With Bodhi, I didn’t say anything to her, I didn’t “send” her the thought, but I did have the thought and because we share the same mind, she picked it up – or so it seems to me.

Someone else could say it’s a coincidence, but it’s a fact that Bodhi never did it before I had the thought.

We sometimes like to think that we can have private thoughts about people – attack thoughts, unkind, mean, hurtful thoughts – and that it doesn’t affect them because we’re not saying it out loud.

Our thoughts matter.

They affect things.

They affect US when we think them.

That’s why our mind-training with A Course in Miracles is all about choosing the loving thought.

Our loving thoughts and prayers are helpful and healing.  They are a healing balm in a fitful world.

I’m so grateful every day for the things that Bodhi and Sattva teach me.  Now if only I could get Sattva to stop jumping on the kitchen counter!

This is one of the reasons why I love being a spiritual counselor and training spiritual counselors.  We actively hold a holy vision of our clients, their relationships and their lives, and that has a healing effect.

I’ve worked with folks who were convinced that the life they wanted was impossible for them, the love, the relationships, the career, and the creativity they desired – they were convinced that they could have none of it.  I KNEW there was no opposition in the mind of God, and my knowing that, holding it with my client and for them, has helped them call their heart’s desire into manifestation.  It’s thrilling to support people in letting go of the blocks – and then the miracles easily unfold.

It takes great willingness to be mindful all day long, but it’s so worth it.

We can easily let go of the harmful thoughts and replace them with beneficial ones.  That’s our purpose!

SATURDAY – Are you an ACIM student?  We’ve got two classes coming up with kironJ Gardner if you’d like to go deep with ACIM.  One is for people who are counselors, coaches, therapists, teachers and who’d like to have miracles with their clients – the other is for those who’d like to understand what “the script is already written” means in a practical application.  Registration is open – click here now!

LATEST PODCAST EPISODE:  The latest episode of my podcast’s topic is Releasing the Fear of God  Often the fear of God is hidden from our conscious awareness, but it’s still there preventing us from the Peace of mind we desire.  We can heal and release this very easily if we’re willing!
