Yesterday, in my Daily Shot of Spiritual Espresso Our Personal Horror Movies, I was sharing about how we terrorize ourselves with thoughts of future problems, sometimes referred to as “catastrophizing.”  And we can freak ourselves out.

A Course in Miracles tells us, “You may still complain about fear, but you nevertheless persist in making yourself fearful.”

We especially become fearful and fall into negative fantasy when we lose a loved one or experience  the loss of something that’s precious to us.  When we feel deeply devastated by the loss or change of life, we can fall into that hole of wondering if we can ever be happy again without that person or thing.

I’d say this is natural, but it’s not.  However, it’s normal for us to fall into this kind of thinking – it’s pure ego and when we’re ego/body-identified those will be our thoughts.

If we’re willing to work at it, we can retrain our mind not to fall into these holes – and the fastest way to do that is to turn it over to the Higher Holy Spirit Self and to be willing to let the old ideas go.

Our mind is REALLY good at training.  It’s far easier to train ourselves to let go of the negativity than it is to be positive.  Still, we can replace the negative with the positive through our willingness.

“I’m willing to let this go and know the truth.”

When we do finally let go of the misperceptions then we feel our mind empty out of the negativity and we can see everything for what it really is.

Everything is helpful.  We can see it if we’re willing.

And if we’re not willing, it’s a good time to ask “why not?”

In my own experience, there are times when I’ve felt unwilling, I’ve felt resistant and reluctant when I thought something that I wished for was going to turn out badly.  In other words, when I felt like I was a victim.

It’s so helpful for us to realize that right where we are is the perfect place for us to develop the deep trust and faith that restores our mind.  We can do it when we give the task to the Higher Holy Spirit Self and we focus on allowing Spirit to do the work.  We’re unlimited.  We’re unprecedented.  We’re entitled to miracles.  We can allow this to be our Miracle!

TODAY SATURDAY:  Grieving Through the Holidays Workshop – This workshop is open to everyone and it’s a BONUS for anyone in Masterful Living 2025.  Let’s join together and make it a time of healing.

Healing the mental patterns of separation, lack and limitation are a major part of what my year-long Masterful Living Program is all about.  Reducing the sense of separation from Spirit means reducing fear, pain and suffering of so many types:  physical, emotional and mental.  Fear affects our body, emotions and our mental stability – we all know that.  If you’d like to live with a sense of trust and faith, Masterful Living might be for you!

NEW ACIM PODCAST EPISODE: my topic is Grief and Loss. The view of ourselves as a victim is so strong and it is furthered when we’re feeling intense loss and grief. This is a tremendous healing opportunity if we’re willing to be gentle with ourselves and allow the healing of our mind. In this episode I share my own experience of loss and recovering from the belief in feeling victimized by loss, as well as the specialness of grief. We don’t have to suffer.
Let’s seize this healing opportunity!
