Imagine you have a dream where someone crashes your car.

You’re in the car when it happens. In the dream, your legs are cut off. You’re an amputee. You’re furious and devastated.

Then you wake up. You’re in your bed. You have your legs. There was no crash. All is well. It was just a dream.

Here’s what you don’t do next.

You don’t get up, get showered, get dressed, eat breakfast, and then drive over to that person’s house to say:

I’m so mad at you. I can never forgive you. I had a dream with you in it where you crashed my car and I lost my legs. You’ve ruined my life. How dare you.

Why wouldn’t we do that? Because they’d look at us and say, you’re delusional. You just told me it was a dream.

Why are you so angry about something that isn’t actually happening?

What if we simply learned from our experience in the dream, and felt grateful that it isn’t real?

Something to think about.

A Course in Miracles says the betrayal of the Son of God lies only in illusions. In our dreams we’ve betrayed ourselves, our brothers and sisters, and God.

Yet what is done in dreams has not really been done.

Our reality is forever sinless. We don’t need to be forgiven. We need to be awakened.

Here’s a simple test I find incredibly helpful. If it’s ever-changing, it isn’t truth. In our true reality, everything is changeless.

The changing is how we know which world we’re looking at.

We can pray this way: Holy Spirit, help me understand that what happens in this world stays in this world.

It’s for my learning. It’s here to help me remember to wake up.  And I’m interested in waking up. I’m grateful for the things that help me do it.

One of my favorite lines in ACIM says it perfectly: “Rest comes from waking, not from sleeping.”

We don’t have to fully understand this to accept it. We only have to allow the Holy Spirit to show us that it’s true.

If you’d like company in that waking, my FREE Forgiveness Workshop on August 29 is free and open to everyone. Click here now to learn more.

We can learn from the dream without moving into it.

Worry isn’t natural. It’s a habit, and habits can be dissolved when we’re truly willing. That’s what we’re doing together September 10 through 13 in my free series, Living A Course in Miracles: Release the Worry, Rest in Trust. Five teachers, eight classes, four days, and every one of us has walked through the worry ourselves and come out the other side. We’ll look at what worry actually is in the mind, why willpower has never once dissolved it, and how to hand the future over so we can rest even while life is still unresolved. Not denial. Not pretending we’re fine. A real change of mind. It’s free, and I’d love to have you with us. Register now at powerofloveministry.net/Release

NEW PODCAST EPISODE:  No More Bad Days, with Maria Felipe I don’t have bad days anymore. I said it out loud to Maria Felipe and then had to sit with what I’d just claimed, because it’s true and it still sounds impossible. Challenging days, sure. I fractured my finger recently and it hurt plenty. But bad days are gone. Maria named the reason in one word, and it’s the same word that separates knowing A Course in Miracles from living it.  Get ready to laugh with these two longtime friends.
