Faith is freedom from worry.

Not because faith guarantees the outcome we prefer. Because faith puts our trust somewhere that can actually carry it.

A Course in Miracles is beautifully clear about this: “The goal of truth requires faith.”

Faith is implicit in accepting the Holy Spirit’s purpose, and that faith is all inclusive.

I love that phrase. When we go to a resort, we get an all inclusive package.
This is an all inclusive travel package with the Holy Spirit.

It might not be where we start. It can absolutely be where we end up.

The journey from having no faith to having all inclusive faith can be as short or as long as we like, according to our willingness.

Here’s the promise that follows.

The Holy Spirit sees the situation as a whole. The goal establishes the fact that everyone involved will play their part in its accomplishment.

This is inevitable. “No one will fail in anything.”

Doesn’t that feel so much better than worrying?

ACIM acknowledges that this seems to ask for faith beyond what we can give. Then it explains why it only seems that way.

The ego solves conflict through fragmentation. It splits off pieces of a situation and deals with them separately, because it has faith in separation and not in wholeness.

The ego can’t see the whole, so it can never stop worrying.

Only Spirit can see through all directions of time and space. Which is why we don’t place our trust in other people keeping their word or doing what they said they’d do. We place our faith in the Holy Spirit, to organize and manage everything perfectly so that the goal of truth is reached.

That’s where Peace becomes available right now.

God is progressive. Ever expanding, never retracting, never contracting, never diminished. It simply isn’t Spirit’s nature to go backward. It’s expansive. It’s creative. It’s expressive. We can have faith in the progressive nature of Spirit even when appearances suggest otherwise.

I remember two ACIM students in the same season, one absolutely terrified that a particular outcome would happen, the other absolutely terrified that it wouldn’t.

The same teaching. The same spiritual objectives. Two opposite terrors.

It’s a perfect illustration of what happens when we’re committed to our judgments and opinions rather than to making loving choices.

We suffer, and then we believe the cause of our suffering is outside of us.

Things also turn around far more often than we expect. Abraham Lincoln had an opponent who genuinely despised him during the campaign.Lincoln hired him for the cabinet, in part, because he didn’t agree with him and because he also knew he was a smart person who wanted the best for the country. Lincoln put him on his cabinet, and the man became one of his staunchest supporters.

Lincoln could handle the dissenting opinion. He had a faith in something higher.

We rarely know what anything is for. In every moment, we’re placing our faith in something. And whatever we’re placing our faith in is what we’re teaching everyone around us. People notice where we put our faith. They notice what results from it. Then they decide whether they can be guided by that.

This is why one person in a family or a workplace who’s willing to place their faith in Spirit can transform the whole family and the whole workplace.

I hear this constantly from people in my classes. Their families and their coworkers are changing as a direct result of their spiritual practice, with no study groups and no conversations about any of it.

It’s happening because all minds are joined.

Our spiritual practice is our practice of faith. It’s how we build the faith muscle until it becomes a rock and an anchor, so we’re not wobbling all over the place.

The rewards of patience are patience. The rewards of faith are faith.

If you’d like to build your practice with a community around you, my Masterful Living program is where we do exactly this, step by step, all year long.

Follow your intuition. If it’s right for you right now, you’ll know.

Faith is our freedom. Let’s not hand it to the ego.

Worry isn’t natural. It’s a habit, and habits can be dissolved when we’re truly willing. That’s what we’re doing together September 10 through 13 in my free series, Living A Course in Miracles: Release the Worry, Rest in Trust. Five teachers, eight classes, four days, and every one of us has walked through the worry ourselves and come out the other side. We’ll look at what worry actually is in the mind, why willpower has never once dissolved it, and how to hand the future over so we can rest even while life is still unresolved. Not denial. Not pretending we’re fine. A real change of mind. It’s free, and I’d love to have you with us. Register now at powerofloveministry.net/Release

NEW PODCAST EPISODE:  No More Bad Days, with Maria Felipe I don’t have bad days anymore. I said it out loud to Maria Felipe and then had to sit with what I’d just claimed, because it’s true and it still sounds impossible. Challenging days, sure. I fractured my finger recently and it hurt plenty. But bad days are gone. Maria named the reason in one word, and it’s the same word that separates knowing A Course in Miracles from living it.  Get ready to laugh with these two longtime friends.
