It’s understandable that we all go through a phase where we think it’s better to go it alone. That somehow it’s better not to trust.

The whole idea of not going it alone is about trusting. The Development of Trust section in the Manual for Teachers shows us the value of trust. It’s required. We aren’t going to get through our human experience and attain Enlightenment without the development of trust.

A Course in Miracles says it plainly on its very first page:

“It is a required course. Only the time you take it is voluntary.” (T-in.1:2-3)

We can delay it as long as we like. We can delay it, and delay it, and delay it. But ultimately, that is the curriculum we’re in.

At some point we can just recognize it, roll up our spiritual sleeves, and say, Okay, Holy Spirit, I’m all-in. Let’s do it! Let’s get this thing done!

That’s what I did. Okay. I’m all-in. I’m doing this.

Here’s what all-in looked like for me, especially when I started. I’d forget a thousand, two, three, four, five thousand times a day, literally. And I’d have to remember.

That forgetting and remembering, for me, was still being all-in.

All-in doesn’t mean perfect. It means we keep coming back. Remembering, again and again, is the practice, and every time we remember, we’ve chosen again.  We’ve chosen the Love and the Light.

I feel more and more Light shining into this dimension, into our experience. As more Light is in our mind, we can see where we’re not walking the talk, where we’re not committed. And the temptation is either to roll up our sleeves or to bury our head in the sand.

I certainly remember that feeling. Not willing to look at it, understandably overwhelmed, feeling helpless and hopeless.

The Manual for Teachers is honest about this stage:

“First, they must go through what might be called “a period of undoing.” This need not be painful, but it usually is so experienced.” (M-4.I.A.3:1-2)

What I’m witnessing is that for people who keep avoiding, it seems to get more and more intense. And people who are willing are experiencing the quickening, at an amazing speed, and life gets easier, simpler and more joyful.
