Here’s the question that prevents most people from following their intuition: “What if my intuition guides me to do something I don’t logically think is the right choice?”
I faced this with something as simple as what to eat.
I had leftovers – food I’d planned to have. Logic said: “Eat the leftovers. Don’t waste. You chose them for a reason.” My family’s voice in my head made a compelling case from scarcity.
But when I tuned into guidance, I got a different answer.
My intuition said: “Eat the fresh vegetable dish instead.”
Now, my mouth didn’t care about the logic. My mouth wanted the takeout meal. But my intuition was pointing somewhere else entirely.
Here’s what I realized: the beliefs about waste, about limitation, about “not throwing things away” – those aren’t wisdom. They’re conditioning. They’re programs from scarcity consciousness.
And they were making decisions for me disguised as responsibility.
When I asked myself: “Is it kind to myself to make myself eat something because it’s already made?” The answer was no. It’s not kind. It’s not loving. It’s making myself a servant to “not wasting” instead of a receiver of what’s truly best for me.
This is the deepening: we’re learning to feel what feels highest and best, not what feels obligatory or “right.”
The ego teaches in terms of right and wrong, should and shouldn’t. The Holy Spirit teaches in terms of what’s truly loving, what’s truly helpful, what truly serves the highest good.
Logic is a tool. It’s useful for some things. But it’s not a reliable guide for your intuition.
What’s reliable is how it feels.
Does this choice feel expansive or contracting?
Does it feel loving or obligatory?
Does it feel like flow or like pushing?
I call this “discernment at a cellular level.” We’re not thinking our way into the answer. We’re feeling our way there.
And the more we practice this on small things – what to eat, which route to take, when to call a friend – the more we train ourselves to recognize the vibration of true guidance.
The guidance doesn’t steer us wrong when we follow it.

NEW PODCAST EPISODE: Trusting the One That Knows. In this episode of A Course in Miracles: Walking the Talk, Living the Love, I explore what I’ve learned about trust—not the kind where you white-knuckle your way through life hoping things turn out, but the kind where you actually let go and listen. I share a moment from Hawaii when I had to choose without understanding first, and a chipmunk encounter that revealed something I couldn’t have learned any other way. Most of us spend our lives convinced we need to figure things out first, then act. But I discovered something different. Through forgiveness practices and honest conversations about resistance, I’m uncovering why the ego’s need to know is so costly—and what becomes available when you stop insisting on proof. This episode reveals what a genuine trust in the Holy Spirit actually looks like in real life.
