One of my favorite passages in A Course in Miracles workbook comes in Lesson 135, in Paragraph 11 – “What could you not accept, if you but knew that everything that happens, all events, past, present, and to come, are gently planned by One Whose only purpose is your good?”
It is a certain spiritual arrogance, if you will, that we would ever think that Divine Order had somehow taken a holiday and what we are experiencing, or what we have experienced “should” not have happened or that it “should” be different.
It is the height of spiritual mastery when we can surrender, in the moment, any need to judge, to be right, to think that we know how it should be and, instead, open our hearts and our minds to the awareness that our good is right where we are if we will but accept it.
If there is pain, then there is a learning opportunity encoded into that experience and we can receive the learning and release the pain. Suffering is optional. Healing the suffering mind requires our willingness to accept that our good is always right where we are. Our good is never at someone else’s house, in their bed, in their garage or in their bank account. It takes true humility to know the truth and accept it.
Our good, our wealth, lies within our ability to be aligned heart and mind, body and soul, with our true nature as the perfect givers and receivers of Love. Today our one goal is peace. Today we accept our good and rejoice that it is here with us. The Kingdom is within.
