Sometimes, there’s a great deal of fear about what God’s Will for us might be. We shrink back in terror that God is going to ask us to do something we don’t wish to do.
We mistakenly believe that we’re going to have to give up sex, drugs, rock ’n’ roll, and even things such as potato chips and watching movies. Some people think you have to give up dancing.
Aligning with God’s Will doesn’t ever mean giving up something that’s valuable. ACIM tells us, “All real
pleasure comes from doing God’s Will.”
We cannot see the Joy of being the happy learner, fully supported in life, while identified with the ego. It’s not possible. We have to be willing to change our point of view. In order to see we have to be willing to be shown.
A Course in Miracles says it this way:
“Your distorted perceptions produce a dense cover over miracle impulses, making it hard for them to reach your own awareness. The confusion of miracle impulses with physical impulses is a major perceptual distortion. Physical impulses are misdirected miracle impulses. All real pleasure comes from doing God’s Will. This is because not doing it is a denial of Self. Denial of Self results in illusions, while correction of the error brings release from it.”
It’s difficult to understand what God’s Will for us is when we fear it so much because of our false beliefs and distorted perceptions.
Today, let’s open our mind to the truth that sets us free. Let’s truly understand that God’s Will for us is perfect Peace and continuous, unconditional Joy, and let’s decide to live there, even if we don’t yet know how it could ever happen.
Our decision and our willingness are the steps that begin the journey. Let’s begin together today!
