I’m in Hawaii this week and next to check out the retreat center where David Hoffmeister and I are leading a retreat in February – you can get all the details for our upcoming retreats here: https://jenniferhadley.com/retreats/ – and it’s absolutely lovely here.
This morning I was getting ready to go down to the ocean for a swim and I was going to jump into my rental car and go. (They upgraded me to a convertible! Sweet!) I was getting my things together and I couldn’t find my wallet. I looked in all the places where it could be and I couldn’t find it.
Fortunately I had my credit card, and my drivers license with me. My debit cards and about 150 in cash plus a gift card were in my wallet and it was missing. Once I felt pretty sure it was gone, I went to gratitude. Looking back, I think that’s pretty cool. What was I grateful for? I was grateful that I had the two most important things in the wallet with me. I was grateful that my peace was undisturbed and the other things in the wallet were replaceable. No big deal.
I was about to contact my bank, when my intuition said “wait – give it another day.” I thought, “ok, I can do that.” I knew my meals were included in the retreat and I didn’t really have any place to spend money anyway since I knew the day was going to be a beach day. I was in chillax mode.
Then I got a thought of where to look, in my laptop case – and there it was. No stress, no problem.
I’m so grateful for the practice of gratitude. I could have been upset for quite some time. If I had been upset at the thought of loss, then I probably wouldn’t have gotten the intuition to wait to call the bank, my cards would have been cancelled. Plus, I probably wouldn’t have gotten the intuition to check the laptop case for a couple of days at least.
This is how Spirit works. YOU are pure Spirit – why believe anything else about yourself and stress out? The Truth is truly liberating!
Affirmation:
I AM grateful I can be grateful if I choose!
