Every time I teach a forgiveness workshop, someone asks a version of the same question.
How do I remember, though, Jennifer? How do I remember to walk the talk and live the love? How do I remember to actually apply these lessons?
It always comes back to one question.
What’s important to you?
If it were important to you, you’d remember.
How do you remember to go to work? To bathe, to brush your teeth? To have groceries in the house? To change the sheets on your bed? To catch your favorite show?
How do you remember to do anything?
It comes from your desire. It comes from what’s important to you.
So what is your desire about?
Is it a desire to live an inspired, loving life that brings benefit to everyone in your community, everyone in your family, everyone in your ancestry?
Or is it a desire to manage and cope with this day, because that’s the best you believe you can do?
I have lived both of those.
Here’s something that helps me understand why we cling to the old thinking.
We love what we made, just because we made it.
That’s why our closets and shelvesw are full of things that aren’t that great. We made them, so we love them. We won’t throw them away, even though they disappoint us.
We do exactly the same thing with the stinking thinking.
To move out of attacking ourselves and others, we replace the belief that we’re unworthy with a belief that we can be healed of it. We add a willingness to know that connecting with Spirit is more enjoyable, more fulfilling, than anything of this world.
Because it is.
It’s challenging to keep our focus there. We built a whole different thought system, and we’re fond of what we built.
To end the self-attack, we choose Love. We value Love. We put our faith in Love.
I say it all the time: If you’re trying to solve a problem with anything other than Love, you’ll still have a problem. It may transform into something that looks different, but it will still be a problem.
Love is the only healer. When we’ve proved it to ourselves then we start to value that awareness. It truly is a treasure.
If you’re ready to do this work of dissolving the habit of self-attack, consider my Finding Freedom From Fear Bootcamp which starts next month.

NEW PODCAST EPISODE: The Decision to Forget One ordinary morning, Leon Joel Russell opened A Course in Miracles and hit a single paragraph that stopped him cold for six days. This week Jennifer Hadley sits down with her fellow ACIM teacher to follow where that paragraph led them, into a question most of us spend a lifetime avoiding: what are we actually afraid of, underneath all of it? Where they take it is lighter than the question sounds. Two friends who love the truth, going somewhere worth following.
