Sometimes it’s so tempting to give in to the mean thought or the attack thought.  When we feel attacked, we feel our attack is justified.

So often, when I’ve felt attacked, I’ve wanted to walk away.  I’ve wanted to say “the heck with them, I’ve had enough of this,” just because people seem very difficult to Love.

Sometimes people work very hard to push us away.  They feel unlovable.  They feel unloved and wounded, and so they behave in all manner of ways to get us to quit on them.

On some level it can feel safer to be isolated, to be alone, to disconnect.  I get that.  I’ve certainly felt that way many, many times.  I’ve retreated from the world.

We can retreat into self-medication with all kinds of things – even spiritual practice.

And yet, there’s nothing quite so thrilling or so gratifying as being able to hold the high watch for someone who seems to be trying to get us to quit on them – whether they know it or not.

Many times I’ve been faced with my own desire to have relationships be easier, and the desire to just stop talking with someone because that seem easier.

I’ve learned that the healthiest thing for me is to simply lay the entire relationship, and everything I think and feel about it, all control, and all desire, all fear and concern, all of it, onto the Holy Altar of God’s Love, as I call it.

I lay it in God’s “lap.”  I say, “Spirit, you lead me, guide me and direct me, I’m your servant.  I know not what to do, or not do, but you will show me and I will follow that.  In the meantime, I will not be moved from this place of Love and surrender.  There’s nothing for me to do, but know that it’s all going to work out in the end.”

And then, let me not be moved from this place of wisdom and compassion.  It’s frequently challenging, but when you experience miracle after miracle, it gets much easier not to give up and collapse into despair, hurt, anger, resentment.  It’s much more interesting and fun to stay strong and let Spirit do the heavy lifting of figuring out HOW to have a healing.

We don’t have to figure out HOW to have a healing, our job is to ALLOW.

Lets be willing and Spirit find the way.

Unforgiveness and judgment keeps us playing small, living in lack and limitation.  If you’re willing to make a leap, my Stop Playing Small online retreat is on a super early bird special right now, check it out before the price goes up.

LATEST PODCAST EPISODE!  The most recent episode of my podcast’s topic is Having Neutral Thoughts. ACIM tells us that we’ve given everything in this world all the meaning that it has for us and that in order to align with the divine we must surrender the attachment to that meaning and recognize that everything is actually neutral. This can be super challenging, and it is extremely fruitful.
