I’m back home in Vermont with Bodhi and Sattva, my fur babies and we’re glad to be back. We had a lovely time in Maine on Deer Isle with family for a week and then a weekend with Lisa Natoli and Bill Free at their house – it’s such a joy to be together.
As I was driving to Maine I was realizing that this is the first vacation I’ve had all year. I’m not really taking much time off this year because of the Camino Trip in October. I’ll be working then too – and it’s not a real vacation when you’re the leader, but I don’t mind not having a lot of vacation time.
I take time every day to be still.
Every day I also take time to relax and chill.
Every day I make time to exercise and to be outdoors.
Most days I’m investing time and energy in preparing healthy food and enjoying it.
Self-care is my highest priority.
I give and give and give – professionally and personally – and I am so very, VERY grateful that I can do that. It’s my passion to share what I can and support others on their journey of Self-realization. It’s my passion.
However, I cannot do that successfully and well if I’m running on empty. So, I care for myself, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, financially and in all ways so that I am undistracted from the fullness of God’s infinite Love that IS my life and being.
The quality of my life experience is constantly improving because I’m continuously eliminating worry, doubt, fear, upset, hurt, etc. I am more peaceful each and every day.
People ask me this again and again – “why aren’t spiritual students willing to do the work to gain their freedom?”
I used to wonder that myself.
After more than two decades as a spiritual counselor and working with thousands of people what I’ve witnessed is that people simply do not believe that spiritual PRACTICE will work for them. They’re interested in spirituality, they like studying it and yet the practical application doesn’t feel that worthwhile because they don’t believe they’ll benefit.
Why bother if it won’t benefit?
I get it.
That was me.
But then I learned to pray and my mind changed.
And now I know, absolutely:
Spiritual practice saves time.
It saves time in this way:
worry takes time and energy – it’s exhausting.
Being peaceful doesn’t take time and it’s not depleting.
Feeling hurt is depleting. It’s draining.
Feeling resentful, angry and afraid are wearing. They wear us down. When we’re worn down we make unhealthy choices to self-medicate and eat foods that aren’t nourishing.
When we’re worn down we often start to spiral down because we start to feel a deep sense of lack, and that sparks more fear and worry and then we self-medicate more, and then we feel more guilty and on and on and on.
Spiritual practice liberates us from ALL of that – if we’re willing.
I’ve invested in spiritual practice and I’m experiencing the return on my investment.
I had faith that if I prayed, and did the clearing work of forgiveness the healing would happen. It has and it is.
I used to think money problems were solved with money.
I used to think that loneliness problems were solved with companionship.
I used to think that feeling better about myself would come from losing weight or being more fit.
I was delusional.
Being delusional is exhausting and it’s time consuming.
Spiritual practice liberates us from ALL of that – if we’re willing.
Many people would like to save time so they have more time to relax and have fun.
What about saving time so that you can enjoy every minute of every day, at home in the Peace of God?
Spiritual practice saves money – because we’re making higher and better decisions and not engaged in self-sabotage. We’re not making decisions from revenge and punishing consciousness.
Being happy is less time consuming and energy consuming than being depressed and hurt.
The ego thought system is ALWAYS going to lead us down a path that doesn’t relieve the suffering for more than a delusional brief period.
Spiritual practice leads us back to eternal Peace. Freedom.
I never imagined it would be possible for me. I didn’t believe it. I was delusional.
Spiritual practice healed my delusion.
