I had an experience yesterday that surprised me. I’m sure you’ve had experiences like this, too. I was going down a staircase, to the landing when I misstepped – I missed the bottom step and I fell forward on to the concrete floor.

As I was falling, with real momentum, I had the sense that this was going to be bad. I had my phone in my hand and it slapped the floor face down as I hit the ground. I landed on my hands and knees, and for a minute I was in shock.

I fully expected that I would have broken a hand, a wrist, an elbow, a knee. But no. I hardly had any pain at all. A little scrape on each of my palms and an elbow. I couldn’t believe nothing was broken, and my phone wasn’t damaged at all. It was almost as if the cement had softened to absorb the blow – which I absolutely believe is possible. That IS how Spirit works, and I’ve experienced it before.

I truly couldn’t believe that I wasn’t seriously injured. It didn’t make sense from my logical mind.

A Course in Miracles helps us to understand that Love is our protector.

I practice being loving and compassionate every day, all day. I lapse, and then I begin again, and I do feel that is the reason why I wasn’t injured. I didn’t need extra practice of self-forgiveness because I’m actively practicing each day.

I sense that had I not been so actively practicing, I might have been injured. It’s hard to know for sure. Of course, it is. I don’t know what anything is for.

However, I am truly grateful that I got up without pain or injury of any consequence. Truly grateful! I feel blessed and grateful.
