Many us love this Bible passage from Corinthians 13:4-8
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails.
We ARE Love. Love is what we are. In this passage, it is our very own nature that is being described. It’s our nature to be good, kind and patient. Everything else is a distortion that is the EFFECT due to the cause of false beliefs.
This is why the truth sets us free. It’s so simple.
In the Manual for Teachers of A Course in Miracles, in Chapter 4, Section A. The Development of Trust, Jesus tells us the whole way out of our self-generated difficulties is simply this: “Give up what you do not want, and keep what you do.”
But first we have to be clear about what it is we desire. Do we desire simply relief from suffering, or are we reaching for heaven? Are we still thinking that things will make us happy, or that changes in conditions are what we most desire?
For me, beginning with “Love is patient, Love is kind” is a great place to start.
Let me practice that day in and day out until I’ve truly mastered it. Then, I will feel I’ve truly accomplished something as I’m certain it will reveal in my mind the complete clarity the pristine nature of my being.
When I was younger, I wished for fortune, beauty and fame in some form or fashion. Now, I’m at least clear that the treasure is within and I know where to find it. Yay for that!
