Learning how to lead workshops and classes was something I taught myself how to do.  At least for the first few years.  Then I took some classes and that REALLY helped me to feel more confident.  I learned a whole bunch of tips and methods that I wouldn’t have learned on my own except maybe after years and years of trial and error.

Investing in developing my skills was very helpful to me.  It’s not about being slick and hip – I’m definitely neither, but there were things I was doing that weren’t helping me – like pacing back and forth on a stage – it’s hard for people to watch, but it’s a great way for a speaker to get out nervous energy.  

• I learned that I feel better and the audience feels better when I simply stand there.  
• I learned not to stand behind a podium because it feels like a barrier between me and my audience.
• I learned how to have the best lighting I can have on zoom, how to frame myself and where EXACTLY to look so that I can feel connected to folks.
• I learned how to speak in my podcast so that I could really feel connected to each individual listener.
• And so many more ….

Taking the 4 pre-Prayer Practitioner classes at Agape, what was then (in the 1990’s) Science of Mind 1, 2, 3 and 4, and then the Practitioner Training – all of that took time – 4 years – and money – and then 4 years of ministerial classes.  Plus internships upon internships in the different ministries at Agape.

The investment of time, energy and money was really worth it.  (Even though, I can honestly say the ministerial classes at the Holmes Institute at least then -20 years ago – were 50% helpful and 50% just intellectual/academic exercises that didn’t feel helpful to me at the time.)  Ministerial School at the Holmes Institute back then wasn’t a program to train ministers to open their mind, it was meant to be academic.  And I didn’t much care for it.

The mystical inspiration and classes are the things I’ve done since then, and I’ve invested in them.

I became very interested in HOW does the mind heal?  How does it actually work?  How does healing the mind affect the body?  How do we heal our personality and heal things like depression and obsessive compulsive behavior?

Once I became licensed as a spiritual counselor and prayer practitioner, seeing clients, I became very interested in how healing actually occurs – at all levels.  It’s still completely fascinating to me.  

Healing, forgiveness, spirituality, prayer, counseling, truth, trust and faith, these topics are always interesting to me.  

I never get bored sharing on them and listening to others share about them.  I feel so blessed that my life is filled with conversations about what’s most interesting to me in the world.  Day after day, year after year, I get to do this.  I feel so blessed.

Now, that blessing that I experience every day is due to my own willingness to take steps towards my goals.  I knew I had a lot to learn and I was willing to learn it.  

A Course in Miracles is very clear that we’re all called to awaken.

We may not all be ACIM teachers for our profession, but we’re all called to be Teachers of God – to be the living, walking, talking demonstration of living by the Light of Truth within our own being.  

We ARE the salvation of the world – and when we join with others we demonstrate it.  That’s my thing.  That’s what I love.

I put time, energy and money into eliminating the blocks to Love in my own awareness so that I could help others do the same.  

I took my passion for Spirit and focused on it.  Spirit led me to realize that there was nothing else I really was that interested in and showed me that I could do this as a profession.  

In the beginning, I didn’t feel confident or qualified – far from it – but now, I get to help others who are in the position I was – passionate, but lacking confidence – fulfill their passion and their aspirations – and, to me, that’s the best thing ever.

This is my answered prayer that I get to do this.  

I know how DEEPLY CHALLENGING and downright HARD it was for me to launch myself as a spiritual teacher and to launch this ministry.  

My first Living A Course in Miracles program in 2011 cost me personally $34,000 on my personal credit cards.  I went on total faith – I didn’t have that money to spend, not even close.  Once I was waist deep into launching that program, and there was no going back, I remember saying to God, “If I’d had ONE clue that it would be this hard, and this intense, I would NEVER have said yes!”  

I felt tricked into doing it by Spirit.  I was working ALL the time and every time I turned around there was something more to be done.  It was EXHAUSTING.  And a lot of it didn’t feel very spiritual at all.

Because of my experiences, I now am deeply committed to helping other spiritual counselors, teachers and speakers have a MUCH easier time with LOTS of support.  And I’m grateful I can.

I don’t have to invest so much of my precious time, attention and ministry funds into these programs to support people in doing this work, but I feel blessed that I get to.  

Seeing others who, like me, go from feeling not so qualified, to feeling they can now teach and lead and support others is absolutely blissful for me.  I’m doing what Spirit told me to do and that’s the key.

What is Spirit telling you to do?  What is your own holiness pointing you toward that you’re in resistance to?

Are you willing to just be willing?  That’s a beautiful place to start.  Don’t underestimate the power of an active willingness.  Spirit will get us where our heart desires to go if we’re willing to actually go there!
