I write to you still in recovery, still in shock about the election results. Last evening we had a group call with about 70 people who wished to connect and share their thoughts and feelings about the election. It was very helpful. And, I’m going to offer another call this weekend and I’ll put that information down below along with other resources for you this weekend.
Our call went nearly 2 hours – people had a lot to share. For many of us, this is intense. We need to be gentle with ourselves and use this experience for what it’s for – working at the level of the mind. Being able to join together and have an honest, authentic discussion can be very healing. Down below, I’m going to share some things that are going on today and the next few days that could support you right now.
I wrote about my thoughts and feelings in my Daily Shot of Spiritual Espresso for Thursday – I’m in recovery from the election. And then I sent out an email yesterday with some thoughts – but you might not have seen it – and I’d like to capture that in the Spiritual Espresso for today.
I wrote something last night that for some reason completely disappeared – so that’s why today’s Espresso is late.
To me, all feelings are helpful – they point us to our thoughts so that we can recognize what we’re thinking and believing.
If we’re aligned with truth we’re at Peace. If we’ve got an attachment, a judgment, an opinion, then we’re not aligned with truth and there’s no way to be peaceful until we release it. So, the disturbance we feel is helpful, but it’s not fun. It’s definitely not fun.
What I have shared is that I am aware I was quite attached to a different outcome and what a Kamala Harris presidency represented to me. I wanted to live in the world that would make her the next president, rather than what has been chosen.
I really, REALLY, had a desire to turn the page, to no longer have to listen to the racist, misogynist, mean, vile, nasty rhetoric of the people who will be leading the next administration.
Of course, I’m aware that if that is my goal, Peace for the whole world in our hearts and the complete end of racism and misogyny – which truly is my ultimate goal for my life’s work and efforts, then I must be willing to visualize, energize, and invest in that goal – it means I must do what needs doing and, of course, that starts with my own consciousness first and foremost.
Wednesday, I posted this on social media – it was one of the first things I thought of.
Dr. King had many setbacks. So did Jesus and Gandhi and everyone who works for the Light. King had many discouraging situations and yet, he remained always hopeful, helpful and determined. Me too. Still, I let myself experience my feelings and I don’t deny them.
My brother sent me this Wednesday morning and it made me laugh. I hope it does the same for you:
Dr. King said, “the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” To which I add, we’re here ONLY to be truly helpful. ACIM is to help us save time that would otherwise be spent in suffering.
We don’t have to start today, we can rest for a while and recover, that’s what I’m doing, and what I know is I’m never, ever going to give up or give in to hate, anger, hurt or prejudice of any kind.
I’m never giving up.
Spirit cannot fail because it knows no opposition.
Therefore, I, being only of Spirit cannot fail when I am working with the Power of Love.
I don’t fight for justice, but I work for Love.
I work for Love and it’s good work.
I am lifted by my loving heart.
I used to be angry and hurtful and I’m not anymore.
I have good work to do and I do it because I love it, not because I’m in fear.
I walk towards the Light every day and I AM the Light every day. There is nothing else.
The darkness is an illusion. It has no power. Only Love has power and I know that.
I will not be fooled. I’ve been fooled in the past, and that’s not happening anymore.
All is well. No matter what. All is well.
The truth is being revealed and Love always prevails.
Therefore, I am assured of victory, because I serve the Light.
All is well with my soul. My personality is taking a moment, healing is happening, and still, all is well.
Victory is ours because we let Love prevail in our hearts.
This is the moment we’ve been waiting for and we won’t fail.
We won’t give up. We walk together in Love.
I love you.
We take our moments.
We cry our tears.
And then we find anything to be grateful for.
We remember what we came for.
We’ll get back to work in a moment.
All is well.
We walk in the Love of God, AS the Love of God, now and forever.
Even if it seems like hell, “thou art with me.”
As Churchill said, if you’re going through hell, don’t stop, keep going.
Love is the long game.
We keep going.
Giving up isn’t an option – but taking a break is.
We can take a break with our efforts, but we don’t take a break in consciousness.
We are here ONLY to be truly helpful – no other thing, no other reason – just that.
What is that? What is being truly helpful – I always answer with this:
To answer the cry for Love with Love.
To be a healing presence knowing that the Power of Love is within us and Love is the ONLY healer.
For now, maybe that means just having healing conversations, and watching cute puppy videos. That’s perfectly good.
Being grateful for puppy videos raises our vibration and brings us back into our heart.
Let’s be grateful that we really do have each other.
I’m going to wear my Harris Walz Cat Lady T’shirt when I go out to eat. I’m going to invite conversations with people that I don’t know yet.
I’m going to invite the local community where I just moved (yes, through this last couple of week’s I moved, and I’m still recovering from that and a nasty cold) to gather with me and just share how we feel. I’m going to create a safe space for folks I’ve never met, because that’s what I do, I create loving, safe community.
I’m going to record another podcast episode today and publish that and share what’s going on with me in order to be helpful.
I stay centered by being still, being loving, being grateful and gathering with my beloved friends and mighty companions.
