For what must have been about three years, I prayed every day to release the resistance and reluctance I felt. It bothered me so much that I was so often feeling my intuition guiding me in one direction, but I didn’t have the courage to choose it.
The resistance I felt showed up in so many ways. It was a constant battle with self-sabotage that felt like climbing up hill, and then rolling back down, and then starting up again, and rolling back down again.
It was exhausting.
And I was determined not to let the resistance and reluctance win out.
That’s why I kept praying.
I had faith that my prayers would carry me through and they did.
Now, I can see that I learned so much and healed so much through my experience of resistance and reluctance.
Deep down, I felt unworthy of my calling. Now, I know that doesn’t even make sense.
I used to think that being a minister meant that I would somehow always make the highest and best choices. Now, I understand that I’m still learning, still remembering, and so sometimes I will stumble and fall, and that’s how I have learned to cultivate a great humility and a greater compassion. Both are necessary to my success as a minister.
When there’s reluctance to making the loving choices, there’s a healing opportunity and we can choose the healing instead of collapsing into reluctance.
The resistance is often about not wishing to give up playing small because it seems so safe. The ego thought is, “At least if I play small I’m not going to impact many others with my unworthiness”
A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 44, “God is the light in which I see,”helps us to see what our resistance is about:
“While you practice in this way, you leave behind everything that you now believe, and all the thoughts that you have made up. Properly speaking, this is the release from hell. Yet perceived through the ego’s eyes, it is loss of identity and a descent into hell.”
We resist the loss of our identity as an unworthy person. We’ve put so much effort into defending and attacking our sense of unworthiness that the idea of giving it up seems like madness. How crazy is that? And yet, it can be undone fairly quickly – if we’re willing. When the resistance is strong, we can relax into willingness.
We say yes to willingness and resistance dissolves.
It’s time for us to shine our light and live the Love! Let’s rise & shine, baby!
I’ve got two programs that I call “speed-healing,” for those who are willing to dig in and do deep work quickly in order to have lasting transformation and a LIFT that’s Real!

For the last 10 years or so I’ve been offering my Stop Playing Small Online Retreat. During the pandemic I started offering it online and it’s been a wonderful success. I like it when we can gather together and do a lot of deep healing in a short period of time. I call it speed-healing. I’m interested in letting go of all resistance and all belief in littleness. It works, that’s why I’ve been doing it for 10 years.
My Finding Freedom From Fear Spiritual Bootcamp is a program I’ve been offering for 17 years – I keep offering it because it’s SO effective. And right now, you can get the early-bird.
NEW PODCAST EPISODE: my podcast’s topic is Body Healing A Course in Miracles tells us how we can heal our bodies, and still, it reminds us that if we make the body a false idol we won’t have healing. So how do we work with this? In this episode, Jennifer discusses the teachings of ACIM on how to hold the body in the mind in order to have lasting healing. When we focus on the mind, and use the body as a tool to work with the mind, we can have miraculous results. Every day is a day of healing and transformation when we’re willing!
