We all know the quote from the Bible, “seek and ye shall find.”  It comes from the Gospel of Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”

The thing to understand about this is that if we’re seeking in the world, we won’t find.

I wonder if there’s a more accurate translation?  As you may know, Jesus spoke in Aramaic, and they didn’t write it down for decades, and when they did, they wrote it in Hebrew, which is a language without punctuation.  Then it got translated into Greek, Latin – all a long way from our English translations.

It feels to me like what was being said was more likely to be “Look and ye shall find.”  Look within.  That’s where the kingdom is.

In A Course in Miracles we’re told that we’re the kingdom of God and we’re the treasure.  Our heart is the altar of God.

In Webster’s dictionary the word SEEK is defined as “to go in search of.”

We don’t have to go anywhere, we’re looking within.  This is an important point because if we’re seeking outside ourselves then we’re doing what the Prodigal Son did.  We’re on a roundabout journey that will bring us back tot he beginning.  It’s not a bad thing, but it’s an unnecessary journey.

To me, it’s such a relief not be seeking for my happiness in the world.

Looking within IS my happiness.

So often, spiritual students make up their mind that the spiritual healing they seek is not available to them because they’re not good enough.  They’re convinced that’s why they’re not having breakthroughs to awakening, but it’s not true.  If we’re looking outside ourselves we’re not looking where the healing can be found.

Are we intentionally looking where it can’t be found in order to keep playing small because that’s our comfort zone?

It’s an important question.

Let’s look for the kingdom within our loving heart so we can find it and discover the joys of living from our heart instead of the intellect.  It’s a whole different way of living and when we choose it we begin to realize that this spiritual stuff works for us.  It works for everyone when we work it.

NEW PODCAST EPISODE!  The most recent episode of my podcast’s topic is Answering the Call. ACIM tells us that all are called and few choose to listen, and yet these days, more and more people are hearing the call and choosing to respond. WE are responding, in part, because we’ve learned that it’s painful to ignore the call. In this week’s episode, I share my own experiences of feeling unworthy of answering the call for Love and how I learned to realize that ALL are worthy of this call to a joyful life. ALL are worthy.
