Last night in Masterful Living class, we were talking about how we view terrorism and the massacres we’ve seen in our world recently. These things are very challenging for most of us.
In my spiritual practice, I find that all disturbances are caused by my judgments. As long as there is no judgment, there is Peace in my mind. And still, when so many are feeling distraught, my emphatic nature comes in and I relate. It feels so sad.
And yet, I have to say, that I do believe what Jesus tells us in A Course in Miracles. I find His teachings helpful and comforting.
“I do not know what anything is for.” Lesson 25
“I’m never upset for the reason I think.” Lesson 5
“What could you not accept, if you but knew that everything that happens, all events, past, present and to come, are gently planned by One Whose only purpose is your good?” Lesson 135
“It takes great learning to understand that all things, events, encounters and circumstances are helpful.” M-4.I.A.4.
“Fear arises from lack of love.
The only remedy for lack of love is perfect love.
Perfect love is the atonement.” T-2.VI.7.
How could it be that such insanity as what’s transpired in Las Vegas, or the neglect of the good people in Puerta Rico could ever be for good?
I don’t claim to understand it, but here’s what I can feel: I can feel that there is a good that is coming out of it all, and I’m holding that in my mind.
I believe it’s possible that this massacre could lead to different gun laws and less murder.
I believe that exposure of the racism that is being revealed and brought to our attention is bringing forth a healing.
I hold in my mind that the good is being revealed now.
I hold in my mind that healing is happening now.
I hold in my heart that we are all One and that Peace begins with me, and this is the moment now.
I choose Love.
I choose Peace.
