I love how things can change in my life.

I am so grateful that my mind can heal and I can have different experiences.

I just had one of my BFF’s come and visit for four days and it was lovely.  I had to take her to the airport because there are no shuttles (not easily), Lyfts or Uber’s in my rustic world.  Plus, she needed to be at the airport by around 5:30am, so that meant leaving my house around 4:45am.

A bit early.

When she first told me what time her flight was I had a momentary thought about how inconvenient that would be for me to get her to the airport which is 50 minutes away.  I’d have to get up at 4am.

However, when I thought about how much I love my friend and that she probably wished to spend the maximum amount of time with me rather than go home the previous day, I was totally fine with it.

I got up early, we went to the airport and I even had a little nap in my car before an 8am teeth cleaning I was able to schedule since I was right near my dentist.

All went well.  I went to Trader Joe’s after the dentist, my favorite and the Healthy Living natural foods store and got some shopping down and was home again at 10:30am to feed and Walk Bodhi.

All day yesterday Ifelt good.  Plenty of energy.  I taught classes, I worked and had meetings and walked Bodhi miles.

I didn’t whine or complain or drink extra caffeine.  I didn’t do any of those toxic things – and I didn’t feel exhausted even though I’d had trouble falling asleep the night before and only slept four hours.

A Course in Miracles has one of my favorite quotes, “Rest comes from waking, not from sleeping.”

Had I complained and been judging the situation, had I been judging my friend for booking such an early flight, judging my not getting enough sleep, etc, then I surely would have been exhausted by the end of the day.

It’s not what we DO that exhausts us, it’s what we think – it’s the vibration of our thought that either shifts us, lifts us or brings us down.

We think that we’re tired because the body’s done a lot, or not had enough sleep, but it’s really the mind that wears out with the attack thoughts.  Other people don’t bring us down – our thoughts about them bring us down.  Other people don’t wear us out, our thoughts about them deplete us by lowering our vibration.

Love and gratitude are our most basic spiritual practice at all times.

When I talk about playing small, it’s about being small minded – focused on lack and limitation – feeling like a victim of the world, believing in the false, holding ourselves back, projecting onto others, selling ourselves out.  All of these are optional.

We can remember that we’re already free.  We’re already as holy as holy can be!
