I’m so completely loving having this precious being living with me.
Bodhi is 12 weeks old and it’s extraordinary that she’s settling into my life so well.
We’re getting along great!
Of course, a puppy is a baby dog. Babies have a lot of needs without a lot of experience. They’re unpredictable and they’re precious, and impressionable.
Bodhi is SO smart. I taught her to sit in 1 minute and she’s been doing it ever since. Most of the time she’ll come when called. So far, the exception is when I’m trying to coax her to go for a walk with me and it’s raining or the ground is too wet. We’ve had rain every day for weeks and the ground is just a big wet sponge with standing water. So much rain the ground can’t absorb it all and apparently Bodhi doesn’t like it. Yesterday she hardly went walked at all.
This pretty baby is at the beginning of crate training. She was quite crate averse in the beginning, but now she gets all her meals in there so she’s warming up to it.
She sleeps on the floor by my bed and she wakes up every hour to or hour and a half just to let me know how happy she is. I hear her and that wakes me up. I look over the edge of the bed and that just thrills her. She stands up and I give her a good rub down and she wags her tail as though it’s the greatest treat in the whole world.
I’m adapting to not getting my usual deep sleep. Who could complain when they’re awakened by an angel in a puppy disguise?
I feel very blessed to be able to share this world with Bodhi.
My intention is to train her to be a service dog and take her to hospitals especially for children and veterans. We’ll see what Spirit has in mind.
