It came up in class today about the importance of making a strong commitment to simply being kind and compassionate. The Dalai Lama famously said that his religion is kindness.
I’ve found that this commitment to kindness and compassion was where my authentic spiritual practice began. The more deeply I committed to it the more healing I had. It’s because this practice brings the flow of Love back to our heart and that’s truly healing.
There’s so much healing and transformation available to us, but we do have to be willing to be loving with ourselves and others. When I talk about Self-Love people often tell me they have no real idea of what I mean. I get it.
Most of us weren’t trained to love ourselves, we’ve had to figure it out for ourselves. Instead, some of us were trained to shame and discourage ourselves. All the more reason why setting the goal to love ourselves fully and without conditions can be so healing for us. It’s liberation.
Love is liberation.
When I first began to open my mind to God, I made loving myself fully and completely without conditions my #1 goal and that really paid off. Love opens the door to insight and expanding awareness.
So much is possible for us – so much healing and pain relief, and it all starts with kindness, compassion and Love. Dedicating ourselves to seeing the choices we have and choosing Love is life-changing.
