You might be surprised at how attached you are to the idea of sin. It’s been a real eye-opener for me to think about. I’ll be talking about this today on my radio show. In my studies of the world religions as well as New Thought Ancient Wisdom philosophy such as Science of Mind and Unity teachings, the main thing that is different between religion and New Thought is that religions (at least the ones I’ve studied) are all proponents of the idea that man is a sinner. New Thought says there is no sin.

I wasn’t raised with religion although it was all around me, and definitely has influenced me. When I was a child my parents decided not to have me christened or baptized because they weren’t religious even though their parents, my grandparents were quite religious. My parents felt that it was a decision I could make for myself when I was older.

When I was 10 years old we moved from Ann Arbor, Michigan (GO BLUE!) to Barrington, Rhode Island. We soon learned that Rhode Island was the “most Catholic state in the union.” Things like that really mean something in New England, the original colonies, where the people who first settled came there to ESCAPE religious tyranny. And, of course, hahaha, LOL, then became the judgmental, finger wagging leaders of the new world.

Isn’t it interesting that the puritans, the folks who were pursuing religious freedom became synonymous with rigid points of view? Puritanical is not a kind word. Interesting!

A carpenter’s son tells the angry mob, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone” and everyone puts down their stone and goes to the tavern for a stiff drink and a new topic of conversation. Hmmmm.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and so is sin.
You see in the world what you’re looking at it with.
Perception IS projection.

There is no sin, because this is the world of illusion, where we can learn from everything if we don’t judge it and we’re willing to look at it with the eyes of Love.

Why do people love to cast stones and call out sins?
The belief that those who sin must be punished has been the way of the world. But not for too much longer. Now is the time for us to broadcast Love rather than judgment.

The hell of this world’s difficult living is built on our belief in sin. Sin must be punished. Reward comes in heaven. You must suffer to get into heaven. God is judgmental and mean and the great punisher. We emulate this false God and think it’s our job to punish our loved ones when they “sin” by not doing what we think they should do. Then we feel guilty and so do they and the punishment spreads to our feelings of unworthiness, shame and self-disgust.

The way to sin no more is actually to punish no more.
Stop punishing yourself.
Give up the belief in sin.
There is no sin.
God is Love.
Allow yourself to be loved.
You’re already as holy as holy can be, and nothing YOU do can change that.
If you think you’re bad, wrong, unworthy – it’s not true. You can’t make it true. Why bother?

No matter what has happened or will happen – you will ALWAYS be innocent.
