I guess it was bound to happen.

Last night I came home from being out to dinner and I let Bodhi out of the house to play.

We were playing catch and fetch and I turned around and Bodhi was no where to be seen.  

That was strange.  We live in a four acre field.  Where did she go?

I actually had the brief thought, “did she disappear?  Did an alien being grab her?”

She is VERY attractive.

A big white dog in the black night is easy to spot.

Then I heard rustling leaves, at what seemed to be the edge of the property although I couldn’t see her, I heard something.  We live at the edge of the forest.

And then she was running towards me.

And then she startedrolling in the field.  A lot.  A lot of rolling.

I though, “oh, maybe she got into some burdock again and has burrs.”

And then I smelled the skunk in the air.  Even though she was 200 feet away.  Ugh.

I knew she was rolling because she got skunked.  So, I started to prepare.

I googled what to do.  

Make a solution of 1 quart Hydrogen peroxide, 1 tbsp dish soap and 1/4 baking soda.

Fortunately I had all those things and I did and when she came back to the house and put on my rubber gloves and I rubbed it into her fur.  

Then I poured buckets and buckets of warm water on her and rinsed her off.

Then dog shampoo – and rinse again.  Towel off, wash the towels with baking soda.

I just did it and I was loving, I wasn’t upset even though it was 10pm and I was tired and I still had work to do.

Now, as I write this (still Thurs night here and close to midnight) and I prepare to go to bed, Sattva got out while I was going in and out with the buckets of warm water (don’t bring a stinky skunked dog into your house!) and he’s still out.  

I’m heading to bed now.  I’m holding the vision that Sattva will be in the house before I turn out the light.

What’s great about all this is I still feel peaceful.  

And even better – Sattva just showed up this minute.  I’m going to sleep!
