One of the most consistent messages in A Course in Miracles is that you’re never alone.
You always have Jesus with you, guiding you, along with the Holy Spirit. The real question is which voice you’ll choose to listen to.
Are you going to listen to Spirit? Or are you going to listen to ego? That choice shows up in ordinary moments, again and again.
For many years, I didn’t listen to what I felt were my guides. Year after year, decade after decade, I kept saying, “No, not interested.” I had walked away from that connection, and I believed they must be angry with me for it.
But they never stopped reaching for me. They kept offering guidance, the highest and best opportunities, twenty-four hours a day. I simply wasn’t willing to receive it yet.
When I’m working with someone one-on-one, I often ask in my mind whether there’s guidance they aren’t listening to. Sometimes I’ll tell them, “I’m getting that your guardian angel has a message for you.” Often they’ll say, “Oh, I get that message all the time. I’ve been getting it for years.” In that moment, it’s crystal clear that the message is the answer to their suffering.
A Course in Miracles states it plainly:
“The Holy Spirit is in you in a very literal sense.” (T-5.II.3:7)
That’s a remarkable statement. The guidance we’re looking for isn’t somewhere else. It’s already within us, in the part of our mind that always speaks for Love.
The Higher Holy Spirit Self is always guiding us, and so is Jesus, in each and every moment. All we have to do is be willing to listen. We’re being guided back to our true nature, the identity that is real, eternal, and infinite.
So let’s get still and ask, “What’s the first guidance that comes to my mind?” Then notice what arrives. We may have heard it a hundred times before and simply not been ready to follow it.
