I’ve learned how helpful it is for me to simply ask questions.  I ask the questions of Spirit and if I’m truly interested in the answer – not just validation of my opinions – I get clear answers.

Making spiritual inquiries about what’s unfolding in our lives is a big part of what I teach in my classes like Masterful Living and Finding Freedom.  It’s a substantial portion of what we do on my retreats and intensive trainings so that we learn to avoid ego tricks and traps.  We can discern the difference between ego and intuition

Spiritual inquiries help us to learn and discern what’s really going on so that we move out of ego analysis or false perception.

I was sharing with a friend the other day,we can facilitate so much more healing, more quickly, when we’re aware of what’s actually going on.

Recently, in class we were talking about how often things are not what they seem.  For instance, a challenge appears in our life and we think it’s just something we have to deal with.  What if the challenge is actually for the purpose of distracting us from our goal of awakening?  What if the challenge is to help us stay focused on our goal of awakening?  How do we know how to tell the difference?

Pain can be a distraction or it can be a motivation.

It’s important to know what we’re dealing with.

Things are much faster and easier when we are aligned with the divine and listening to Spirit guide us all the way.  One major way we can help ourselves to consistently inquire what things are for.  This is one of the great benefits of spiritual counseling – being able to be the two or more gathered in the name of Love for the purpose of healing.

Here are some great and simple questions that are really helpful:

What’s the pain for?

What’s the relationship challenge for?

What’s the seeming loss for?

What’s that feeling of anger for?

Because Spirit is all that there is, everything is for us and nothing is against us, but we may not be able to see it or believe it without some real willingness.  This is why we pray and Partner UP each day, so that we stay focused on Spirit and avoid the extended detours.

The ego is tricky, but the Spirit cannot be beat!
