Do you ever feel like you’re stuck in spiritual Groundhog Day, learning the same lessons repeatedly? Like you’re making progress, then suddenly you’re back to square one, dealing with the same patterns, the same triggers, the same frustrations?
I used to think this was just part of the spiritual journey. But A Course in Miracles taught me something profound: “Time is the teacher of the proud, truth is the teacher of the humble.”
When we learn through time, we’re essentially learning the hard way – through painful repetition, falling down and getting up, making the same mistakes over and over. But when we learn through truth, we can access wisdom instantly through our connection with the Divine.
The difference lies in what we’re cherishing. Are we cherishing our opinions and judgments like false idols? Are we holding onto our need to be right, our victim stories, our justifications for why we can’t fully commit to Love?
I discovered that every time I tried to control or manipulate someone in my life – I was actively affirming “I don’ttrust God.” I was declaring that Divine order doesn’t exist and that I must be the god of my universe.
The result? Conflict, fear, and that exhausting cycle of learning the same lessons repeatedly.
But here’s the beautiful alternative: we can make masterful spiritual inquiries instead of victim-based ones. Instead of asking “Why is this happening to me again?” we can ask “What must I know to dissolve this pattern? How can I be masterful in this situation?”
The Course teaches us that “thought and belief combine into a power surge that can literally move mountains.” Our minds are continuously creating, every instant. The mind never sleeps.
When we align heart and mind in Love, when we seek truth first instead of defending our positions, we literally move mountains of limitation out of our lives.
The person who learns through truth recognizes that every challenging situation is an invitation to choose Love over separation.
They don’t waste time in victimhood because they understand their divine creative power.
Today, notice where you’re learning through time versus truth. Are you willing to humble yourself enough to let truth be your teacher? The lessons you’ve been repeating for years can be completed in an instant through willingness. To me, this is God’s infinite grace showing up right where we are.
The truth is our liberator – let’s value it.

NEW ACIM PODCAST EPISODE: my topic is The 3 Lies That Create Anger (And the One Truth That Dissolves It). In this episode, I explore how anger is fundamentally a form of self-sabotage rooted in the projection of separation and the belief that we’re victims rather than the dreamers of our dream. Drawing from A Course in Miracles Chapter 6, I shared my personal journey from being a chronically angry person – like “a pot boiling on the stove” – to discovering that anger can only occur when we believe we’ve been attacked, that retaliation is justified, and that we bear no responsibility for our experience. The profound truth is that taking complete responsibility for everything we see and feel, without blame or projection, is the only path to peace, joy, and freedom – and when we model this for others instead of allowing ourselves to be victims, we create miraculous healing for everyone involved.
