One of the most maddeningly deceptive beliefs about this world is that the circumstances of our life cause fear. Nothing could be further from the truth.
We feel afraid because we choose unloving thoughts, we invest in them, we believe they’re valuable and we repeat them again and again becoming very attached to them. And then, of course we think they are so real.
The feelings of fear are the result of thinking we’re right when we’re not.
And yet, we still keep thinking the same unloving thoughts and telling ourselves our upset is because of what’s happening the world. And then, of course, it starts to feel like we’re stuck and there’s nothing we can do about it.
Spiritual practice is the mechanism by which we can quickly step out of the same repetitive pattern of thinking and experience. That’s what I’m talking about on my radio show today!
