Back in the summer I started to share some things I was learning about the body and about healing as a result of
the back injury I had. Who knew you could injure your back sitting in meditation!
I got a great response from those blogs and folks have been asking follow up questions. I’ve decided that I’m going to do a spring detox cleanse and offer a series about that in March. In the meantime, I thought share some things that I’ve learned about constipation because it’s such a major issue for many people.
Taking some magnesium is a really good idea because it helps the muscle contractions to move things through as you’re cleansing. Most people have a lot of atrophy in their colon and intestines and the combination of magnesium
and hydrocolonics helps to get things back in shape. One product I like is called CALM http://naturalvitality.com/natural-calm/ – it can be great for kids too.
I’m not a medical expert, but here are some things I’ve read:
People can be constipated for all kinds of reasons. Some people are clenching their buttocks a lot of the time and don’t even know it. It’s become a habit related to stress and magnesium can help relieve physical
appearances of stress.
Here’s an article I found that is simple and hits the key points I’ve found in my own research: http://www.natural-indigestion-relief.com/magnesium-and-constipation.html
One thing that can help if you’re constipated a lot is to get hydrocolonics. It’s really worth it. I went to a wonderful hydrocolon therapist who got into that line of work because she herself had once gone 30 days without a bowel movement. I can’t even imagine that and I don’t want to. At any rate, I’ve known people who hadn’t had a movement in a week.
Sometimes people are eating TOO MUCH fiber and need to stop.
One thing about the magnesium is – go slow. If you try the CALM, try it before bedtime, it will help you sleep well and try just a teaspoon. Also, use a very tall mug because when you add the hot water it immediately responds with an effervescent action that fills the glass and can easily run over. Add the water slowly.
If you have leg cramping and things like that – the magnesium will help you. Your digestive tract is essentially one long muscle and so any muscle cramping issues will be helped with magnesium – including menstrual cramps. That’s why my acupuncturist suggested I take it when my back was injured. She recommended a supplement that’s made from antarctic sea water – loaded with minerals – called Polar Mins I have been taking it – and my body likes it – I add it to my food one meal a day.
It’s really important to have a clean digestive system – without that – the mind, body and emotional body will all feel less than prime. Your skin is actually part of your digestive system – that’s right! – and the quality of
your skin is very much related to the quality of your digestive system.
I’ve rarely had a problem with constipation. I usually have a healthy flow – a healthy animal has a bowel movement after every substantial meal. If that’s not you – you will be amazed how much better you feel when things are moving and grooving in the way they’re meant to!

This year, we’re really going for our best year ever and so let’s not carry all that old poo with us! Most people carry between 5 and 40 (yes 40!!!) pounds of old poo stuck inside them!! It’s worthy our attention to clean yourself out! You’ll be SO glad you did, all that old stuff is now toxic waste leaching into your bloodstream. Enough already!
