Yesterday, I had a wonderful class in Living A Course in Miracles with Cindy Lora-Renard. Our topic was True Success – and that’s the topic of my Homework Class today.
One thing both Cindy and I are pretty clear about is that true success comes from our living in our loving hearts, eliminating ego attachments and freeing our minds. It seems like in every class this week, we’ve talked about being truly helpful and referred to this beautiful passage from ACIM. I call it the Purpose Prayer:
I am here to be truly helpful
I am here to represent Him Who sent me.
I do not have to worry about what to say or what to do, because He Who sent me will direct me.
I am content to be wherever He wishes, knowing He goes there with me.
I will be healed as I let him teach me to heal. T-2.V.A.18.
This prayer feels so sweet to me. I appreciate our call to be “truly helpful.” When I contemplate what it means, I feel that being truly helpful is to extend Love and compassion. It’s releasing the habits of, “giving to get something back.” It’s agreeing to be of service to the Light and listen to Spirit’s direction. It’s choosing Love’s Freedom rather than ego’s limitations.
Being truly helpful is cultivating the willingness to live without judgment and to see with God’s eyes.
It’s a simple practice that brings us such great benefits – Peace, Joy, Freedom, and so much more. I invite you to begin to look for how you can be truly helpful in all your choices. It’s a deep practice that reveals a great sense of purpose and fulfillment. It’s simple, and yet it asks us to be truly present in each moment. Practice, practice, practice. That’s what a great life of Love is. It seems contrary to what we might think, but then living in our heart is often contrary to our old thoughts.
There’s such a great feeling of success when I can be loving now, where once I was so critical or complaining. Having compassion instead of judgment is a blessed relief. I don’t mind the practice anymore, I welcome it. My heart grows stronger every day, and my mind is more free! This is the Freedom that Love brings. What a blessing!
