The beautiful thing about prayer is it gets the mind to focus on what it is we’d like rather than what we don’t want and can’t stand. That shift of focus is so helpful to us.
For instance, we may think that what we’d like is a new job, a new car, a new home, or something else in this world, but when we truly become prayerful, and the truth of how spiritual principle works is revealed to us, then we realize that everything in the world is symbolic.
So what does the job represent? If it’s a symbol, and you’ve given it all the meaning that it has for you, what does it represent to you?
That new job could mean different things to different people – it could mean financial security, a seal of approval and validation, an opportunity to explore and be creative, and many other things.
Instead of praying for the symbol we believe represents the actual thing we’d like, let’s just allow ourselves to receive the thing we’d like. Let’s allow ourselves to explore and be creative, to share our gifts and talents, to be inspired and share the inspiration – let that prayer be fulfilled and maybe it will mean an even more perfect job!
When we get attached to how things need to manifest in order for us to be happy it’s a recipe for unhappiness.
Instead, let’s release attachments and energize the end goal – a fulfilling life.
The practice of releasing attachments can be challenging, but we can get so good at it that it feels wonderful to let the attachments dissolve and to feel the true sense of Freedom that brings.
We’re already free, and when we hold attachments in our mind, we won’t know it. We’re setting ourselves free by choosing to focus on what we’d really like, rather than what we think will make us happy.
Let’s choose to energize Peace, Love, Harmony and then let Spirit show us what that looks like rather than telling Spirit what the symbols are that represent that and trying to manifest them. It’s just easier!
