I feel blessed to be able to live in a beautiful valley in the Green Mountains of Vermont.  I love being any time of year, and especially in the summer time.  It’s so beautiful, lush and green here and it’s rarely too hot or too humid.  It’s absolutely lovely.  I feel so grateful to be out in the woods, riding around on the dirt roads (even though my car gets SO dirty), and seeing the stars at night.  It’s heaven.

I love the sounds of the birds.  They really nourish me.  I love being able to have the windows open all day and to be bathed in the sunlight all day too, not needing to turn on the lights until the sun sets.  What a blessing.

When I was a teen and in my early 20’s I liked to sleep in and sleep till 10am.  I can’t remember the last time I did that.  Now, I’m aware that my body clock likes to get to bed early and get up early and I do my best to respect it.

I love the longer summer days, more sunlight.  Sunrise is early here.  It’s light around 5am and in Maine, where our families home is the sun is lighting things up before 5.  I find it so energizing!

Summer didn’t used to be my favorite time, because I didn’t like the heat, but now that I have been in Vermont for longer stays for the last many years now, I find there’s so much to enjoy.

I do love the change of seasons.  I missed the big shifts and changes of the seasons when I lived in Los Angeles.  I enjoy the snow and cold of the winter and the contrast.

Life is filled with the contrasts that help us to see things differently.  This is the world of contrast.  We learn through the contrast of what feels good and what doesn’t.

When we deepen our spiritual practice life is easier and more beautiful.

When we think we don’t have time for it and make other things a priority, like running errands then we actually have less time to enjoy the good things in life.

We experience contrasts between when our spiritual practice is strong and when it’s weak and we learn.  Contrast is a great teacher.

Now, I prefer to learn through direct insight and less through contrast.  I’m interested in ease and grace all the way.  No matter what’s going on in the world, I can be at Peace.

Let truth be revealed, may Love prevail!  Let’s enjoy this beautiful day for the gifts it offers us.

Heaven is ours if we choose it.
