One of my favorite things to do is to speak with the people in my year-long Masterful Living class at the end of the year and find out in detail how they changed their lives that year.
And one thing became crystal clear.
The ones who did the work profoundly changed their lives.
Every single year, it’s the same.
The ones who apply the teachings, who don’t just read them but live them, those are the ones whose lives transform.
Here’s what I’ve seen over and over again:
I’ve met so many people who study A Course in Miracles without truly applying it. They read it. They underline it. They can quote it. And then they feel like there’s something wrong with them, because nothing in their life is shifting. They feel hopeless. And maybe they don’t tell anyone because they feel like it’s just them – and then they go to another spiritual teaching, and another and another.
I understand that, because I did it myself for years.
For the longest time, I let the ego thought system drive my spiritual practice. I kept it all in my intellect, never letting it travel the eighteen inches down into my heart. The intellect is driven by the ego. So why on earth would we let the ego run our spiritual practice?
We wouldn’t, if we could see it clearly.
The teaching only works when we live it.
That’s the whole heart of Masterful Living. We don’t so much study A Course in Miracles as apply it, moment to moment, in our everyday lives. And we do it as mighty companions to one another, not in isolation, but together.
That community piece is everything. When we do the work together it’s easier, and it’s more powerful. More healing happens.
We have people all over the world doing this work together, supporting each other, walking each other home. It’s such a beautiful spiritual family. And the ones who lean in, who let themselves be held by this community, those are the ones who experience the most miraculous healing.
Studying is 1%, and living it is 99% of where the transformation comes from.
