Some lines in A Course in Miracles are so simple I almost read right past them. Then I go back and think, make it plain, my brother. Make it plain.
Here’s one of those lines:
“When you are willing to accept our relationship as real, guilt will hold no attraction for you.”
WOW!
That’s so clear and inspiring! If guilt has been a struggle, and for so many of us it has, the release is right here. We accept that our relationship with Jesus is real. We accept that our relationship with God, with the oneness, is real.
That’s the whole instruction.
It’s what a Teacher of God is doing every day: affirming, knowing, accepting, and allowing that this relationship with the Higher Holy Spirit Self is real.
The HHSS is truly guiding us. It’s really caring about us. He’s really talking with us. He’s really not blaming us, shaming us, or judging us. He’s really loving us, showing us the way, and letting us make our own errors and learn from them.
That’s the fastest path of learning, healing, and awakening we could possibly have, in every minute of every day.
When we’ve chosen wrongly, we don’t have to punish ourselves. We can simply say:
“Oh, Jesus, I chose so wrongly. That’s why I’m so unhappy right now. Help me to choose again. I’m choosing again, and I’m grateful that I’m choosing again. I’m choosing to know the loving response to this situation.”
Then we can celebrate that we chose again. That’s where the Joy comes in.
Jesus also tells us, “The only gift I can accept of you is the gift I gave to you.” The gift he gave us is union. Accepting it is how we give it back to him, and how we share it with everyone. With that union comes the remembrance of our true Identity and the release of every false identification.
We can pray on a daily basis to know this relationship is real. We can say, “Jesus, I accept your gift. I open my heart and my mind to receive the gifts of your bounty. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
There’s nothing to earn here and nothing to pay. There’s only a gift to receive.
