Think of Love as white light.
White light is a full spectrum. It contains all the colors of light. In the same way, Love contains all the spiritual qualities: Peace, Prosperity, Wholeness, Freedom, Joy, Wisdom, Clarity, Creativity, and Harmony. They’re all aspects of Love.
Love is all we need. Love is forgiveness, and forgiveness brings forth more Love. More Love brings forth more forgiveness. They work together.
Forgiveness offers us everything, because it removes the blocks to Love.
Here’s how that works.
God has given us everything. We’ve been imbued with Wisdom, with intelligence, with Love. A Course in Miracles puts it this way:
“Teach only love, for that is what you are.” (T-6.III.2:4)
God has given us all of this. And we block the Love with unforgiveness: the grudges, the complaints, the grievances, and the judgments. Without the flow of Love, our mind atrophies. Our heart atrophies when we hold on to resentment, regret, guilt, shame, and blame. Our life deadens and becomes tired and small.
Forgiveness releases all of those blocks, it really does. Forgiveness is a miracle, and it brings a cascade of miracles. Because we’re eternally one, we share the benefits of our miracles with everyone everywhere.
A miracle, according to A Course in Miracles, is when we shift away from the ego thought system and anchor into the Holy Spirit’s thought system. When our consciousness shifts, naturally the whole world shifts.
When we let go of blame, we make it easier for everyone else to let go of blame.
I wasn’t taught to see it this way at first. For years, I spun in obsessive thoughts and wasted so much of my life there.
Getting out of that misery was worth everything I did to escape.
What I can tell you now is that, when we forgive, what we’re releasing isn’t the person or the event. It’s the meaning we gave to it, our interpretation, our attachment to what we perceived. That’s the splinter in the mind. That’s the purification that’s necessary.
Here’s a challenging teaching for many of us. This world is an illusion projected by our mind. We’re all one, so there’s actually no other. It looks like there are all these different people, and there are not. There’s just one that looks like many.
The miracle we’re going for is the remembrance of that truth. Then we can have, moment by moment, a joyous experience of life. We release the attachment to all the shoulds and to all the painful meaning we’ve given to everything.
That’s why I don’t try to figure out how to forgive. I just become willing.
Our job is not to understand it from the ego mind. Our job is to say, “Higher Holy Spirit Self, lead me. I’m interested in the truth. I’m interested in Wholeness.”
Because all minds are joined, when one of us forgives, everyone has healing. Regardless of whether other people seem to be doing their part, we’re it.
I see the same people coming back to my workshops again and again, because they know how powerful it is. What they’ve learned is that forgiveness is everything.
It can become very joyful.
In the beginning, it can feel hard. It can feel nearly impossible. But working with the Holy Spirit, nothing is impossible. It just requires our true, authentic willingness.

LATEST PODCAST EPISODE: Alan Cohen: A Glitch in the Matrix In this episode, I’m talking with my dear friend Alan Cohen about his latest book, A Glitch in the Matrix. Borrowing from the movie, Alan calls the matrix the collective illusion built on separation, lack, and fear. A glitch is any moment that cracks it open. He says the way out is inner, and when we stop identifying with our personality, the matrix becomes our servant instead of our master. His closing message: “Your greatest contribution to a peaceful world is to be at peace.” Pull up a chair.
