Here’s a practice that has changed how I meet the world.
I stand back and say, “I don’t know what anything is for, but I’m interested in discovery.”
That’s where A Course in Miracles starts. It’s Lesson 25. It’s the beginning, middle, and end of the teaching: we’ve given everything all the meaning that it has for us.
When we really anchor into “I don’t know what anything is for,” there’s nothing to be angry about.
We’re upset because of the meaning we’ve given to things. Why would you be angry if you don’t actually know what anything is for?
We can save ourselves from being upset by letting go of the meaning we made of things. And why wouldn’t we?
Gary Renard is a longtime friend I admire and love. If you haven’t read Disappearance of the Universe, his first book, I encourage you to dive deeply into it. I was so grateful to have it in my hand when I first read it.
Gary says the basic thing about A Course in Miracles is to be willing to accept it fully. Don’t try to figure out how to understand it.
That’s because trying to figure out HOW to forgive, or HOW a miracle works, keeps us in the ego mind. The ego thought system is the opposite of miracles. It’s the opposite of Love and of unification.
I don’t try to understand it. I say, “Holy Spirit, lead me, guide me, inspire me, show me, speak to me.”
It isn’t our job to figure out how to let go. Our job is simply to accept the Atonement for ourselves, which is accepting the unity of all life.
Here’s the part I find deeply humbling:
What we do to the least of them, we do to ourselves.
There’s no way to judge someone else and not judge myself twice as much. There’s no way to complain about somebody else and not feel that I deserve more complaints than they do.
That’s why I’m moving out of the judging, attacking, complaining mind.
We live in a progressive universe.
More Love, more Peace, more Joy, all the time, no matter what it looks like.
That’s God nature – expansion, and progression.
Those are the facts.
If you’d like to learn to hold your interpretations lightly, join us in a FREE Forgiveness Workshop, where we practice releasing the meaning we gave to things.
We don’t know what it’s for so let’s let it go!

SATURDAY: My next FREE Forgiveness Workshop! Click here to learn more now.
SUNDAY: Family Forgiveness – another FREE Forgiveness Workshop – this one with a theme. The holidays are coming. Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away. Old resentments and family dynamics come up for healing during this last 2 months of the year. Holding onto grievances blocks our faith, trust, and capacity for Love, the only way to have more Love is to be more loving. We’ll do the healing work together.
NEW PODCAST EPISODE: The Greatest Help for Your Awakening. In this episode of A Course in Miracles: Walking the Talk, Living the Love, I explore the trap so many of us live in: we ask and ask and ask, and still live with too little health, too little time, too little freedom. Something is standing in the way, and it isn’t what you think. After a workshop left me on fire, I opened The Song of Prayer, the ACIM addendum, and I’m sharing the hidden key in its first lines: a greatest help that comes as a pair, one half eventually outgrown, the other never ending. Imagine feeling supported, less triggered, and wide open to the good already being offered.
