I’ve sold myself out many times – but not lately. It’s a common thing for people to disregard their own inner warning bells and preferences. Sometimes there’s a strong feeling that it’s better to please others and suffer in silence.
At times, I’ve been willing to stuff down my own feelings in order to do what someone else would like even though I secretly have felt upset about it. And, I’ve often then been passive aggressive about showing my resentment. It’s such a slippery slope. There are so many ways we can sell ourselves out.
I’ve learned that being honest and straightforward really works for me – as long as I can be compassionate and nonjudgmental.
One thing that really helps cut down on the judgments is*being loving to oneself and true to oneself – which is what spiritual sovereignty is all about.
There’s so much more Peace when we’re true to ourselves. It’s so worth it!
When we aren’t judging ourselves and others then being honest really works. People are much more able to hear our preferences when we’re honest without judgments.
Most people would rather have Peace than passive aggressive battles for control.
The loving path is always the best path. It does take practice though! Being loving IS being true to myself!
