More and more I feel led by Spirit.
Less and less, I’m thinking about things and trying to figure them out. For me, it’s such a relief to stop trying to figure things out and to understand things. And here’s why: for a lot of my early life, I felt confused by things.
When I was younger my feelings and actions were confusing to me. Other people’s emotions and actions were confusing to me too. The confusion overwhelmed me and I felt upset because I felt lost. I often felt like I was drowning in an ocean of things I couldn’t make sense of.
And that was weird, because I also knew I was smart. At times I was too smart. Smart enough that I was often and easily bored because things weren’t interesting enough. I could escape into books and into fantasy, but that wasn’t “real life.” I didn’t want to live more and more in my head – just the opposite.
It took me a LONG time, but I finally reached the place where I decided to go ALL IN for Spirit and to focus on being loving, and available for spiritual insight. Insights were so much more stimulating than information. Bit by bit I began to be able to recognize my intuition and follow it and this led to a much more satisfying and enriching life.
The more loving I became the less afraid I felt. I learned to trust my guidance more and more. I began to make better and better decisions. Life became SO much easier.
So many times, when I placed my faith and trust in Spirit it felt like a risk.
I’ve come to realize that NOT following my intuition is a risk that leads to stagnation.
One of my all-time favorite quotes is from W.H. Murray. The following passage is from the beginning of Murray’s The Scottish Himalayan Expedition (1951):
… but when I said that nothing had been done, I erred in one important matter. We had definitely committed and were halfway out of our ruts. We had put down our passage money— booked a sailing to Bombay. This may sound too simple, but is great in consequence. Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way. I learned a deep respect for one of Goethe’s couplets:
Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!
The whole key to living an inspired life is to follow inspiration!
Be bold. Go for it!
