Let’s take a moment to have a heart-to-heart about that frightened voice in our mind – the voice of ego.
You know the one. It sounds so reasonable:
“Be careful.” “Don’t get your hopes up.” “Remember what happened last time?”
We think fear is protecting us. We think it’s keeping us safe, helping us make smart decisions, preventing disasters. But here’s the truth that changed my life:
Fear has NEVER given me good advice. Not once. Not ever.
Fear told me to play small because people might judge me.
Fear convinced me to stay in relationships that dimmed my light.
Fear whispered that I needed to control everything or it would all fall apart.
And you know what? Following fear’s advice made me miserable. Every. Single. Time.
Fear is the opposite of Love – but only in the illusion. And since we’re made of Love, listening to fear is like a fish trying to live on dry land. It goes against our very nature.
When I lived in LA, I spent YEARS letting fear run my schedule. Rushing to avoid traffic. Panicking about being late. Stressed about not having enough time. My entire life was one long anxiety attack punctuated by moments of exhaustion.
Then A Course in Miracles taught me this: nothing is happening TO us.
The way out of fear isn’t managing it better or pushing through it.
The way out of fear is recognizing that fear only exists when we choose thoughts that aren’t true.
That traffic that’s making you late? It’s not true that it’s a disaster.
That person who might judge you? It’s not true that their opinion defines you.
That financial worry? It’s not true that God’s abundance has limits.
Here’s your new practice: When fear starts its familiar song, ask yourself: “What would Love do here?” Then do that. Even if fear is screaming. Especially if fear is screaming.
Because every time you choose Love over fear, you’re not just changing your moment – you’re changing your entire life trajectory. You’re literally stepping out of hell and into heaven.
And heaven, my Love, is where we belong.

If you’re ready to be the calm in the storm and live from Love instead of fear, join us at 3 PM Eastern. Let’s remember together who we really are and why we’re here.
LATEST ACIM PODCAST EPISODE: my topic is The Cure for Loneliness. The epidemic of loneliness that affects so many of us on the awakening path can be seen in a new light. Drawing from ACIM Chapter 11, I explain how our spiritual exhaustion comes not from relationships or circumstances but from thoughts that cut us off from love’s restorative flow. I share how we often isolate to avoid triggering judgments in social situations, only to find ourselves alone with the “dark companions” of fear and shame – but there’s a solution: surrender to Holy Spirit and join with mighty companions in authentic spiritual community where real transformation happens through our shared willingness to heal.
