I used to find that when I got annoyed with some inanimate object that wasn’t doing what I wished it to do, that I’d tell it, “I hate you.” I’d say “I hate you” to the drawer that wouldn’t close properly or the jar that wouldn’t open. It was a kind of automatic response.

At first, the “I hate you’s” were hidden. I’d just feel annoyed or frustrated or angry, but then, as I became more and more aware of my thoughts, I realized that I was thinking the thought “I hate you.” The more loving I became, the more the “I hate you’s” became obvious. What did I do shift it?

As soon as I’d “hear” myself say “I hate you,” I’d pause and take a breath. Then, waking up from sleepwalking and dropping into my heart, I’d say, “No, I don’t hate you. There’s no hatred here, only Peace and Love.” I found that it was essential to my well being not to allow the upset to go unchecked. I learned how valuable it is to shift it right away and to correct the error in my thinking.

Now, when the jar won’t open or the drawer doesn’t close I say, “I Love you.”

It might seem strange to say “I hate you” or “I Love you” to an inanimate object, but what I’m really doing is saying it to all of life. I’m saying it to my own mind.

Since there’s only one life, one Presence, one Spirit, if I say “I hate you,” in a very real sense, I’m saying it to everyone and everything.

I have found that these seemingly small changes make a big difference in my life. It’s really worth paying attention to every thought we think. Our mind is the mind of God and the mind of God never sleeps. It’s always responding and creating our experience, our feelings, our life. The ONLY way to change our lives is to change our thinking.

At first, it seemed like such a burden to monitor my thoughts, but now I’m so clear that it’s a release and a relief. Every day I’m taking out more of the trash and giving it to the Higher Holy Spirit Self. Every day there’s more clarity and more Freedom. It’s worth the effort to do the clearing. I’m so grateful that I saw the value of being committed to making little changes every day.

If you’re finding what I’m sharing to be helpful won’t you please share at facebook and twitter to let others know? Thank you!
