One of the greatest discoveries of my life is that fear is something that I did to myself. It’s the judgments and opinions, the belief in lack and attack, that has caused all the fear I’ve experienced. A Course in Miracles tells us, “I’m never upset for the reason I think.” We’re always upset when we’re in judgment. It’s our choice to complain, attack and hold grievances that is so upsetting to us. In our heart, we know it’s just not our nature to be unloving.
I used to have worry, fear and anxiety around food. I think I may have starved to death in a number of past lifetimes. I used to get quite anxious if I thought I was going to get very hungry, and experience a blood sugar drop. I would also get anxious if I thought there wouldn’t be any healthy food available. I feared getting really hungry and having to eat junky food.
I’ve known people who would get really upset if the food wasn’t organic, or vegetarian or some other thing that they felt the food should be. I’ve seen people get upset that there’s no dessert or no meat. Opinions get in the way of our happiness.
A lot of miraculous healing can happen if you’re willing to look at the beliefs you have around what’s good and bad in relationship to food. It’s worthwhile to just write down some of your opinions about what’s not good – especially anything related to food that upsets you. Since opinions and judgments are the root causes of most fear, let’s bring them to the light and release them! Food can trigger A LOT of stuff! Let’s get it out!
In our 40 day reboot of Pray & Clear, we’re clearing out the mental and emotional clutter that keeps us from experiencing our natural Peace, Joy and Love. Food can provide many triggers for people’s upsets. What are some of yours? The triggers may not make sense to you. They might seem insane.
Please take some time to sit and contemplate what upsets you when it comes to food and drink. We can clear these triggers out and have more Peace! Please share the triggers you’ve noticed in our facebook group.
One of my favorite parts of my spiritual practice is taking time to be contemplative. I love to just sit and open my mind to whatever Spirit guides me to. It’s a way of cultivating a greater awareness. Awareness is healing – it’s curative. We can have insights that will prevent future upsets. We can be led to solutions to challenges we’re struggling with. Once again, we realize:
Spiritual practice SAVES time that would otherwise be spent in suffering.
Invest in spiritual practice rather than in suffering.
Being contemplative is resting in the Spirit and being guided to the most helpful thoughts!
On the cleanse side of life: In Junger’s book CLEAN he suggests adding foods back in carefully so that you can notice any differences in how you feel. I’ve been quite surprised to realize that I really do have more energy without caffeine – it took me a while to adjust, but I feel better. I’ve also noticed that I’ve had hardly any grains for months and I don’t miss them at all – that was a big surprise to me. I’m quite happy get my carbs from fruits and vegetables – my body is really happy. I love the addition of coconut water and coconut milk. having that 12 hour digestive rest feels just perfect to me. Lots of discoveries!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE brown rice – even though I haven’t been eating much of it. Brown rice is much more nutrient rich than white rice. I like it because it’s tastier and chewier. My body likes it more for the nutrients. Did you know that soaking your rice for at least eight hours is crucial to break down anti-nutrients that can actually leach minerals from your body. Whole grains and legumes contain Phytase, a valuable enzyme that is released when you soak your rice. Enzymes are great for your digestive system – they make it easier for your system to digest the food you eat and make better use of the nutrients. You may like the taste of the rice even more when you soak it! Try it and see – let us know in our facebook group!
