For so long, I’d claim I was ready to let something go.
I’d say I’d like to release the resentment.
I’d say I’d like to forgive the wound.
I’d say I’d like to drop the grievance.
Yet I wasn’t actually opening my heart. I was holding on with everything I had while saying I was ready to let go.
Does that feel familiar?
A Course in Miracles tells us:
“If you do not want these upsetting thoughts and experiences, give them away to the Holy Spirit, because the belief system that’s generating them will be removed from your mind for you.”
That’s the deal. The Higher Holy Spirit Self will do what I call the “heavy lifting” of removing these thoughts from our consciousness. The only catch is, we have to actually be TRULY willing to let them go.
The Higher Holy Spirit Self can’t take from us anything we don’t want.
Here’s what made a difference for me: I had to stop saying I’d like to let go and actually loosen my grip. I had to open my heart. I had to open my mind.
Our willingness is everything. Without willingness, no healing happens. With willingness, the healing is instant. Boom.
The Higher Holy Spirit Self is so responsive when we’re willing to let it go. So responsive. It’s wonderful. It’s a HUGE relief to let all that toxic waste in our mind go and finally feel free and clear!
We’ve always got that in our back pocket – the Higher Holy Spirit Self is on our side. Let’s use it every day, all day long.
Here’s the practice. When we notice we’re carrying something – resentment, fear, doubt, an old story about ourselves – we can simply say:
Higher Holy Spirit Self, I’d like to release this. I’m willing.
Then we let our hand open. We don’t figure out how. We don’t analyze why. We just allow.
The thoughts that have been disturbing our peace will be removed from our mind for us. The belief system that’s been generating them will be removed from our mind for us.
That’s the gift available to all of us.
What if all we had to do was truly be willing?
NEW PODCAST EPISODE: The Friend You Forgot What if the very thing I love most is the thing that’s hurting me? I sat with Chapter 26, Section 6 of A Course in Miracles this week, and one sentence grabbed my interest. I share the story of my own bottoming-out moment – when something I’d poured years into didn’t go the way I hoped – and what I had to learn the hard way about attachment, illusion, and the friend I’d forgotten I already have. Why does almost everything we strive for eventually disappoint us? And what does it actually take to stop digging up the seed before it has time to grow? Listen with me on Episode 736.
