Let’s please realize that being authentic is healing and it’s a relief!
Over the years, I’ve noticed so many things that prevent people from being authentic.
#1 is that people feel that if they’re authentic they’d be yelling at people, telling them what they REALLY think, and they’d definitely stop people pleasing.
BUT that’s not authenticity.
Our authentic self is kind, patient, harmonious, and naturally loving.
If we’re identified with a small, selfish, separate self, then we’ll be mistaken in thinking that our authentic self is someone to hide. It’s a false identification.
One of the things that was such a revelation to me many years ago is that if we’re identified with our ego, then we may hide our true self, and mistakenly believe that we’re not lovable.
If we’re not being authentic, then, OF COURSE we’ll think that we’re not lovable. HELLO??
Think about it! If we present a false self that people “love” then we’re going to feel unloved because we know what people think they love is actually an illusion. I was speaking about this in a class with Alan Cohen recently.
When we clear out the judgments and opinions then we can be our authentic self is beautifully lovable!
About 10 years ago I began to feel that I was living as my true self and I began to feel how wonderful it is to be authentic. I love being me! I DID NOT like being a false self.
Please contemplate this – be authentically loving and let the false opinions fall away.

NEW ACIM PODCAST EPISODE: my topic is You ARE the Treasure: Why God Values You Above Everything Else. Exploring “The Treasure of God” from A Course in Miracles Chapter 8, I share the profound revelation that WE are God’s only treasure – not money or worldly things, but us. Through Jesus’s retelling of the prodigal son story and my reflection on how movies like The Matrix, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings all feature “savior of the world” themes, I realized we’re all meant to be saviors through joining with the Holy Spirit and seeing Christ in everyone. The key to moving from confusion to clarity is accepting that EVERYONE is equally valuable to God – from the worst person imaginable to Mother Teresa – and understanding that God’s will is our will, there’s no separation. Our function is to create and extend love in whatever form that takes, whether cooking a meal or teaching a class, and when we accept our true value as God’s treasure, we can finally live in the peace and freedom that is our birthright!
