One of the most common things people tell me is that they’re waiting to find out what God wants them to do. Well, in my understanding of God and our world, God doesn’t want us to do anything. God is full and complete whether we do anything at all. God doesn’t have wants or needs. God is not a being like we are.
God is the All in All and doesn’t want anything from us. Our life is a gift to God. We can share our life and live our life as we choose. It’s ours to do as we wish.
My experience has led me to believe that the most fulfilling life, indeed the only the fulfilling life, is one in which we’re of service, “being truly helpful.”
A Course in Miracles tells us this is our life purpose – to be truly helpful. Whether we choose to live our purpose or not God doesn’t want anything from us.
This life is about choosing what YOU would like to do with it – experiencing free will. And the greatest Joy comes from putting Spirit first. Making that relationship the #1 relationship and having no false idols or false Gods in the form of anything (family, work, friends, lovers, bodies) before our dedication to being truly helpful.
And, of course, the most helpful thing we can possibly do is simply to be loving and kind to ourselves and each other. It’s also pretty helpful to stop waiting and just get to it. It’s fun too! Living in service to the light can occupy every moment while we’re living our lives exploring the earth and each other. It’s a real win-win situation – without any waiting at all!
