How often do we wish life were different?

We wish the traffic would clear, the email would arrive, the person would change, the body would heal. We resist what is, thinking peace will come when it’s fixed.

A Course in Miracles invites us to a radical practice: see the perfection that’s already here.

Seeing the perfection in what already is doesn’t mean we deny our feelings or pretend not to care – we’re not doing a spiritual bypass.

Being willing to accept the perfection that already is means we open to the possibility that nothing is wrong, even when it’s not how we wanted it.

This is a challenging spiritual practice – and it’s also immensely rewarding, because it reveals the Peace of God, and that’s worth every bit of the challenge that we experienced to get it.

I used to fight reality constantly.

My mind would rehearse scenarios, bargain with God, and push against what was. It never brought me peace. What finally began to change my habitual mind was the willingness to say: “Even here, there is perfection. Show me.”

And you know what? Every single time I was willing to see the perfection available now, I’ve been shown a blessing, a lesson, or a gift I would have missed if I’d been busy complaining and arguing with life.

This is the practice: notice when you’re wishing it were different, pause, and choose to look for the perfection instead.

It may be hidden, but it’s there—because God’s will for us is perfect happiness, and that will is never absent from any moment.  Yay for that!

NEW ACIM PODCAST EPISODE: my topic is The 3 Lies That Create Anger (And the One Truth That Dissolves It). In this episode, I explore how anger is fundamentally a form of self-sabotage rooted in the projection of separation and the belief that we’re victims rather than the dreamers of our dream. Drawing from A Course in Miracles Chapter 6, I shared my personal journey from being a chronically angry person – like “a pot boiling on the stove” – to discovering that anger can only occur when we believe we’ve been attacked, that retaliation is justified, and that we bear no responsibility for our experience. The profound truth is that taking complete responsibility for everything we see and feel, without blame or projection, is the only path to peace, joy, and freedom – and when we model this for others instead of allowing ourselves to be victims, we create miraculous healing for everyone involved.
