In Masterful Living yesterday we were talking about what I feel is the #1 error that spiritual students make. They don’t ask for assistance from the invisible, from the field of Love that is always in support of us.
Here’s an example of what I mean – it’s rather mundane, but that’s the point. I’m one of those people that believes that spiders and other insects are to be captured and released back tot he wild. When I find a spider in the house I put a cup over it and then capture it and put it outside.
Sometimes it can be tricky to capture an insect. They can be fast and evasive. One time there was a rather large spider in the living room and it didn’t wish to be caught, even though, it was ready to get outside again. Rather than struggle with it, I asked the angels for help. Before you know it the spider presented itself again and was easy enough to catch and release. Thank you, Angels!
One of the most common causes of unnecessary difficulty in our lives is that folks struggle with going it alone. So often, people don’t believe there’s divine assistance available to them and therefore they’re not open to receiving any and then they get their wish – they don’t receive any.
Instead they feel they have to try to do it themselves and then they feel alone, punished and unsupported – but that was their choice and their interpretation of what happened.
It could have been so different.
I’m ever so grateful I’ve realized there’s no benefit to doing it myself. None at all. There’s no extra point. There’s just an opportunity to avoid unnecessary difficulty.
Suffering isn’t beneficial in anyway whatsoever.
Struggling on our own is, in fact, wasteful.
All of heaven will help us when we’re willing to choose Love and to be of service to the Light.
One of my favorite passages in the ACIM text is this one – it so inspires me and comforts me because it talks about how powerful are the beings of Light who stand at the ready to support us and whose Love is so great, and support is so complete that it’s not possible for us to fail:
“To your most holy Self all praise is due for what you are, and for what He is Who created you as you are. Sooner or later must everyone bridge the gap he imagines exists between his selves. Each one builds this bridge, which carries him across the gap as soon as he is willing to expend some little effort on behalf of bridging it. His little efforts are powerfully supplemented by the strength of Heaven, and by the united will of all who make Heaven what it is, being joined within it. And so the one who would cross over is literally transported there.
Your bridge is builded stronger than you think, and your foot is planted firmly on it. Have no fear that the attraction of those who stand on the other side and wait for you will not draw you safely across. For you will come where you would be, and where your Self awaits you.“ A Course in Miracles T-16.III.8-9
When we think we’re on our own, then life seems to be against us. When we’re willing to recognize that we’ve got God and the angels to support us, then life is much easier.
We do have to be willing to accept divine assistance in order to experience it. Once we get the hang of it, life improves considerably!

One thing to note is that some folks are attached to the idea that they are so unworthy that God has abandoned them and they’ll only allow more of that experience of feeling left out. If you feel that’s your story, then please, give the story and all your belief in it to Spirit for healing. Invite the angels to show you that you are worthy, loved and supported and they surely will. Then, your challenge is to be receptive.
Let’s open to receive divine assistance now.
We’re entitled to miracles and now is the time to experience them!
