It’s the time of Instant Karma.  There’s no doubt about that.  If you watch the political news on a regular basis you can see that people’s choices that are less than kind and compassionate come back to them pretty swiftly.  People can still lie, cheat, steal and disrespect others, but the consequences come pretty quickly.

What is karma?  As A Course in Miracles student, I’m aware that ACIM doesn’t discuss karma although it does talk about reincarnation.  Here’s my understanding of karma, and if you have a different one, please share in the comments section below.  

I experience karma as the residue of the decisions I’ve made in the past.

It can be my loving choices or my fearful choices.  It’s all karma.  I can feel that I made many negative, fearful, unloving and unforgiving choices in my past, this life and prior lives, and those choices were all decisions.

My decisions from the past appeared to become my belief system.  Beliefs are not true, they are the decisions I made about life.  Truth is true and it’s not a belief.  Truth applies to everyone and is not changeable based on circumstances.  Truth is constant.  That’s precisely why it’s liberating.  Truth is an aspect of God’s Love and grace.

My decisions, that have come my belief system are, in a way, my negative karma – although I don’t actually believe in negative karma because I do believe what ACIM says, all things work together for good and there no exceptions except in the opinion of the ego.

My unloving choices come back to me in a way that helps me to learn and choose Love and I’m grateful for that.

Karma is an amazing system that is built on a foundation of Love and grace.

It is ALWAYS a blessing – let us receive it that way and give up this idea of punishment.  

God does not punish.  Only the ego punishes.

I’m glad to be living in this time.  Let all my karma come to me now in a way that is grace-filled and can lift me up to be more loving.  I am willing to develop a pristine clarity that allows me to see every spec of unloving choice and to course correct myself on a moment to moment basis.

I intend and desire to be wholly truthful.

I’m not always completely kind, but I aspire to be.  

I ask the universe to help me to meet my aspiration.

In my experience of life, I have witnessed many hundreds of thousands of opportunities for me to make more loving choices that I’m inclined to make in that moment.  I’ve experienced my lessons on a daily basis.  

There are days when I felt like a burn victim standing naked in a windstorm, but those are LONG gone.  Everything I’ve done, every difficult decision has helped me to liberate from the haze and fog of my denial of truth.  The years that the locusts chomped away on and left barren, have been given back to me and I’m enjoying them now.  

I am now a happy learner.  And, my goal is to simply know and remember the perfect truth of my being that is my liberation.

I’ve learned the self-Love that is in my ability to choose to be compassionate with others.  Without that life is HARD.  It’s bone-crushingly difficult and instant karma is our experience now.

When I think of a judgmental thought, I experience it right away.  I feel the energy shift, I stub my toe, I almost fall on the stairs.  It used to be that I’d ding my car, I’d break something that was expensive to be replaced, I’d miss my deadline, I’d lose the discount, I’d have to write a letter of apology or pay for the meal.  

Out of self-Love we can make all of our choices towards EVERYONE filled with kindness and compassion.  Then, Spirit’s perfect grace will flow in our life and all the painful decisions we’ve made in the past will come back to us gently so that we can choose again.

Jesus said it this way:  what you do to the least of them, you do to me.

There is no other – we’re one.

What we do to ourselves we do to Jesus.

What we do to the judger we do to ourselves and to Jesus.

There’s no escape from the oneness.

A Course in Miracles teaches us, “Idle wishes and grievances are partners or co-makers in picturing the world you see.  The wishes of the ego gave rise to it, and the ego’s need for grievances, which are necessary to maintain it, peoples it with figures that seem to attack you and call for ‘righteous’ judgment.  These figures become the middlemen the ego employs to traffic in grievances.”  W-73.2.

Let’s not align with ego – let’s align with something real, Love.

I hold this for myself and everyone each and every day.  Let’s mine that gold and live with a heart of gold each and every day!  We are the Light, the golden Light of Love and the darkness has NO POWER.  

There is one power and it is the Power of Love.  Let’s give up believing there’s any other power.  We place our faith in the one Power: Love.
