We’re all the same in so many ways.  For instance, most spiritual students who are studying and practicing A Course In Miracles have an understanding that we’re healing our life, relationships, finances, and bodies through working at the level of the mind.  We understand that the goal isn’t to heal the things of this world that bother us, but to heal our mind so that we’re unbotherable.

Our spiritual practice isn’t for the purpose of manifesting things to make us happy, it’s for eliminating the blocks to Love and happiness.  Intellectually, we understand this, and yet, we still find ourselves trying to rearrange the pieces of our life to make us happy.

This is the fundamental thing we learn when working as a spiritual counselor with clients.  We all persistently go back to thinking that the problem in the world needs to be solved and then we’ll be happy.  

For me, as a spiritual counselor and teacher for the last couple of decades, I’ve had the benefit of recognizing just how alike we are.  I’ve also had the opportunity to realize how perfectly beautiful each and every one of us is, without exception.  This has been deeply healing to me.

Every single one of us has beliefs and feelings that we’re bad in some way, wrong in some way, not quite right in some way, different and difficult – until we’re willing to let it go and see ourselves as we truly are – innocent.

Working with spiritual counseling clients helped me in ways I could never have predicted or imagined.  I definitely realized that when one heals everyone heals.  I’ve seen so clearly how one person in a family or a group of friends who dedicates themselves to doing this healing work will absolutely raise up the rest of the group – and that’s so inspiring!

In doing this work as a spiritual counselor I’ve had so many extraordinary and miraculous, breath-taking experiences of healing.

It’s helped me to truly know this is true:

“… next to you is One Who holds the light before you, 

so that every step is made in certainty and sureness of the road. 

A blindfold can indeed obscure your sight, but cannot make the way itself grow dark. 

And He Who travels with you has the light.  T-31.II.11. 

For those who are truly willing to see the light in themselves and in their brothers and sisters, the light will be seen.  The way will be shown.  It is for those who have the ears to hear and the eyes to see.  The ears and the eyes that can perceive the truth are those that are willing and interested in valuing the truth.

We’re on a healing journey together.  

Each and every one of us.

Each one is our teacher, but the guru is within.  

The healer is within.
